In the 6th round the eye was pretty bad, how much longer could have vitali gone ? Would that be enough to KO Lewis? Vitali is not a one punch KO artist so it was not going to be a spontaneous KO, more of a wear Lewis down, but the way the eye was getting worse could he have done it in the limited time he could have been granted?
Both were exhausted but Lewis was landing harder and more frequently because of the combination of fatigue and cut to Vitaly's eye. I doubt it would have gone two more rounds as Klit was holding on for dear life. The cut would have only gotten worse, not better.
He couldn't. Safety of the fighters comes first and that eye was a damn mess. It was caused by a punch so it was a KO.
Dunno why i'm doing this but... ...Vitali had nearly four rounds to do it from when the main cut happened at the start of the 3rd. Him, his corner and everyone watching knew how bad it was and that he was on borrowed time. Lewis never took a backwards step other than when he was rocked in the second, from the third onwards he was riding most of Vitali's shots and really didn't respect Vitali's power anyway. He was treating Vitali's punches with disdain and started walking through them to inflict more damage, which he was doing and being realistic...Vitali couldn't stop him. Vitali had ample time to finish it while being fully aware of his predicament, not only couldn't he do it, he also could'nt stop Lewis from landing telling punches that were making the damage worse. TKO6
Holy **** someone still takes these threads seriously :admin Vitali lost the fight but won the war (he was up 4-2 on all cards too)
I think the fight at most could have gone 2-3 rounds. The cut would only have worsened and without that one punch ko power I don't see Vitali getting the ko.
You're not fooling anyone. If you want to look like a real ******* you can't go around using proper grammar and punctuation, and you must always refer to Manny as "PAC" (in all capital letters). :yep
the reason I ask is because, lewis fans say the cut was gona get worse which everyone agrees even vitali fans, but vitali fans argue lewis was on his way out which is possible but less agreed upon, so if both were true, lewis was on his way out, and vitali was on borrowed time, which would occur first? the cut get to the point of permanent damage or lewis getting KTFO?
Even as a Lewis fan, I would say there was a 50/50 chance Vitali could have beat Lewis should the fight have gone on. The cut was horrible but he was fresher than Lewis IMO when the stoppage occured. Then again, what if they let him continue and that cut got far worse? You have to draw the line somewhere and make a decision as a doctor (with your profession on the line) and protect fighters from permanent damage, that's what they are supposed to do afterall.
The point is not that the fight was stopped but that Vitali was robbed of a win after the fight was stopped. WBC ordered the rematch and Lewis cowardly retired.
