If Lewis had come back after initially retiring I would agree. But he didn't, beat every man he ever fought and thought long and hard before deciding he was not motivated the same way anymore. Kudos to any champion knowing the right time to step away, because to few do.

If anything, you could say that he was robbed of a rematch, but he clearly didn't win the first fight and if there had been a rematch, there's no guarantee he wins that either... Especially if Lewis actually bothered to show up motivated and in shape.

Lewis knew by then that he was done as a top-flight boxer, and retired

in my view, Lewis would have lost the rematch, even if he trained for it

Lewis at his prime would beat a prime Vitali though

Last time I checked, Fights go on for 12 rounds not 6 unless a guy gets stopped.

Vitali got his face ripped open and beat on by a fat shot half retired Lennox Lewis.

I agree with Threetimes analyse. Vitali has only average power for a HW, and Lewis is one of the toughest and most hard hitting champs of all time. It would have shown.
