I might be missing something here - perhaps it's the 45C getting to me mate!

Ambrose Palmer lost his very last fight to Yank Gus Lesnevich in 1938. Lesnevich went on to win the world light heavyweight title some years later.

Lesnevich went on to become a heavyweight contender, and actually fought Ezzard Charles for the world heavyweight title (in his last fight in 1949) - Charles stopping him in round 7 of 15.

Throws some questions boys. In the mean time:

The six fighting Sands Brothers Dave, Clem, Ritchie, George, Alf & Russell must be the most impressive fighting family in the history of the sport!

    Here's a few questions:

1/ Four of the six Sands Brothers had in excess of 100 fights...which four??
2/ Dave was the most decorated & famous, but one brother just shaded him for KO wins...which one??
3/ Only one of the Sands brothers finished with a negative record (ie more losses than wins)...which one??

Ok CHB... will give it a shot...

1/ Dave, Clem, Alfie and George all had over 100 bouts... pretty spectacular acccomplishment for the same family.

2/ In the KO department Dave had a 63 ko total... Alfie managed 64 ko's..

3/ The win/loss ratio for Clem was 46w against 50 losses...

Try the old one I threw...My error, as I had not taken consideration of Lesnevich... Re: Ambrose, and the tragic opponent he boxed... this fellow had recently Max Schmeling for the H/W title also.. Sadly his life was terminated under terrible circumstances...

The connection between Palmer regarding both men is interesting.. Both of the opponents had fought for the H/W title.. with a 30 year time difference..

Fred Henneberry and Ron Richards have an interesting connection also.. Boxing Archie Moore in 1940, Fred being felled by a low blow in the 7th round, and being unable to continue.

Richards twice boxing Moore, going the distance on one occasion. As we know, 'ol Archie went on to LH/W glory, and then boxed Marciano in '55... 14 months later boxed Flloyd Patterson for the vacant crown....7 years later.. was pummeled by Clay..

    Just some nice nastalgic value.

Who did Muhammad Ali shout "Timmmmmmmmmmber" to, just as he was about to sign a contract to fight him. As a result, this guy backed out...

Another famous cry was '..let her go...'.... at the begining of turn of the 20th century fights in the States.. a very famous Ref would yell this out.

    Ah hu...Young Stribling.

Amazing life story, awesome career (nearly 300 fights and only 16 losses) and very sad ending in a motorcycle accident at only 29 years of age.

Even more tragic, I believe he was riding to the hospital, for the arrival of a baby.

This one's for the car, the boat...and the house!

I know Michael Buffer makes a fortune churning out 'Let's get ready to rumble!' and from memory big John McCarthy in MMA says 'Let's get it on' or 'Get it on!', but no, can't help here.

CHB... once again, I've given some poor info... this gentleman was infact a ring announcer. The picture in my brain whilst writing the question was clear, yet.. he is not a referee....

So... who is this Ring Announcer?????
