Question: I was 11 stone 11 lbs, born 1811 in Nottingham, England, and died in 23/8/1880; I had a nick name, "Abednego of Nottingham", which was eventually shortened to "Bendigo". The rural town of Bendigo, in Victoria, was named after me. I was British Heavywieight Champion and retired undefeated in 1840, but then made a comeback in 1845 and fought Ben Caunt, I won this fight 2 hours into the fight in the hot sun when Caunt kneelled to the canvas in round 93rd round (!!), without taking a blow. William Thompson?

Funny you should ask that Ateri..I had a page in a boxing book open that had a little bit of info on him..Says he went on to travel the world preaching evangelism after one of his many stints in prison.

Has a poster of his fight with Caunt and he is choking him in it..

    WaR...too good mate.

That book would be fighter book 2...with the five commonwth title holders. You blokes must have the same resources and ammo as me.

Might need to go to a library to find a more difficult question.

    Cheers mate.

Who am I???? What divs. did I claim????

    Born in Wombat, N.S.W 1902.

A man with an awkward style... which still carried him on to take 3 Aust titles....

Engaged with the likes of Fidel LaBarba and Pete Sarron....

Having 162 fights for 98 wins... A total Aust legend. rarely mentioned enough.

I'll take the Volvo wagon as long as it's not beige!

Wayne Mulholland was correct incidentally. Not sure how tainted the report of the fight's ending was, but it was written up that way in the Ozzie fight mag. of it's day.

    QUESTION:
    Born in NSW in 1931.
    Began pro career in 1951.
Won an Australian title in 1958, and retired not long after.
Came back after about 12 months out of it.
Best known for having fought and beaten an all-time Australia great, a few years later.
Retired in 1967, having fought a couple more very well known opponents.
