ok, good thinking, although the family member to have KO'D a former W/W champion is not a brother..... CHB, I dont want to say too much more... will give another clue if needed.
I'm thinkin' the Mundines here. Tony (Snr) obviously fits the bill as a well known Comm title winner. Anthony (Jnr) TKO'ed Yank Kevin Pompey in one of his very early fights. Pompey won the IBC welter title in 1990 & lost it the next year - so was a former champ when A.M. beat him.
Not sure that I've got the answer you're looking for above (if I have I'll take the Niblick golf shoes please). Will throw something new out there just to keep the wheels turning: QUESTION: Born in Queensland in 1902. Won 3 state titles but never quite cracked it for a national title, though challenged on a number of occasions. Had an excellent right. But suffered a series of hand injuries which probably put paid to what might otherwise have been. Retired, but was later tempted into a comeback that ended in many visits to the canvas and some humiliation. Outside the ring worked as a used car salesman, in hotels and then for a newspaper. Refereed for a while and then went into the boxing role I became best known for. Who is it??
Good thinking again CHB... Incorrect though... a clue. The family memeber was a former Oz M/W champ.... You will kick yourself when the answer is revealed.
Good question.... mind went strainght to Bill McConnel, Billy Smith or 'old Ern..... . I guess Joe Wallis may be the answer??? Post script... Not Joe Wallis... obviously..
Struggling here! Big week, and knackered! Have considered all sorts of scenarios: John Wayne Parr is a step brother of the Briggs twin - but no, don't make the criteria. Considered the Artangos - no doesn't look like it. Mark & Brian Janssen perhaps? Otherwise I'm beat til tomorrow!
CHB...Dig deep, as in the search.... yes, its a long way back also..... The clue so far have been pretty fair.. The son won the Empire title... The father was Aust Middleweight champ, who also KO'd a former world W/W champ.... one last clue, this bout was for the Aust M/W title...
Mate, yourself and CHB will flip out... I'm aching to offer another clue... yet, I will refrain, until its requested... Just think of our Empire champs..... An Empire champ, who's father boxed also..
I think we really need at least what decade he was empire champ. It's a bit harder because we don't know what division he was in when champ. I could think of a dozen in the last 50 years. It's probably looking us in the face, but by now, we are also probably standing far to close to the painting to see what it is (So to speak)
