Yeah, always remember Max as a slick dresser from the Festival Hall / TV Ringside days. Didn't realise he was as good with the gloves on, until I had a look in BoxRec. Sounds like Darcy might have given him the grey hair! Here's a picture, care of Young Victor's website, of Max with Johnny Wheeler & George Bracken: This content is protected
Randy Sandy ......................vs Dick Tiger would have been interesting Here's a bit of a cryptic one.. Italian born American who fought for a Tasmanian Heavyweight Title back in the early 1900's with a very grim record of 9 wins 95 losses....
Fate, circumstance and luck often shape a boxing career. The window of opportunity opens and closes quickly, if you blink your eyes sometimes, it has already passed you by. Who am I? I won the Commonwealth title in my weight division, at the time I won it, my country was so strong in this weight division, and I had nearly beaten everyone there. Many thought I would easily go on a win a World title. I was flashy, stylish, I stood tall and I boxed and counterpunched extremely well. I was heavier than Legra, but had a very similar style. Perhaps it was venturing to Australia to fight there. That caused me missing out on nailing a world title to my great record. It was probably a bad mistake that I went there. When I returned home I would knock out a fellow countryman, that would go on and win the world title in my division.
That record makes Randy Sandy's name look normal by comparison!! Already dug deep and no cigar so far. Found a couple of heavyweights with over 100 losses (not common) by name of Frankie Hines and Danny Wafford...but don't think either is the answer? May need a clue of two here Chassis!
CHB It was rumored that in reality he actually had over 300 fights coming out on top no more than 10 occassions. Nicknamed Iron man but affectionately known as the 'human punching bag' he was notorious for his extremely grim record. On one occasion he was dropped 20 times in a 6 round fight only to lose on the cards.....
Too good, again! It as probably one of those times in world ratings when great middleweights were growing on every tree
Who am I? I had an interupted boxing career and counted among my earlier opponents was Lester Ellis. I am written about in the underbelly books which was one of the reasons I never fought for 25 years making a comeback I was undefeated and my last fight was for a State title which I won.
Will hope to answer this one in a munute.... have to recollect the thoughts (bourban affected thoughts) of the other night... actually stumbled across the 'iron man' in some book....
Wild but correct. He fought Lester under an alias I thought that might have thrown you. He was a champion kickboxer as well.
OM... it threw me in the first line.... Had thoughts of a late '60s fighter... not a current man. Top question mate.
Bent Chassis.... whoever this fellow is, the record is not that of the average 'Joe'... a vert 'Grim' record indeed.....
