    QUESTION

A father & son combination question.

    Son
    Also born in the USA.
    Orthodox fighter.
Fought predominantly in the USA and at feather / super featherweight.
Visited Australia briefly in mid 70's for one fight only.
Lost to colourful Australian title winner.
    Returned to the USA.
Challenged unsuccessfully for world title in final career bout - the fight being stopped when his father signaled to the referee that enough was enough.

    Father
Born 1919 in the USA and now departed.
    Southpaw.
    Had 60 amateur bouts.
    Winner Golden Gloves.
    Had 39 pro bouts.
    Fought only in the USA.
Had wins over fighters who would challenge for world titles, including one who fought the great Henry Armstrong.
    Won California state featherweight title.

Who was the father? Who was the son?

    Another father and son one.
I won an Australian title and earlier had fought for a world title.
I fought and was beaten by a fighter who was a former world champion, a decade later I would travel to America to also be beaten by his son.
Who was the father and son?

The fighter who fought both father and son was knocked out in his first fight, out of his next 35 fights he would only be beaten once and that was narrowly on points.
From start to finish his career lasted 32 years

    You get the chocolates O.M.

It puzzled me why it's Ray (the father) and his son was Ray III? Maybe a cousin was Ray II?
