Quick stab, Rollo Hinton had a lot of fights. Fought tiger Donnelly a few times for fly title. Whoops,"Unsuccessfully" bows Rollo out.
CHB... Al White and Eddie Miller are another 2 guys that managed dual Aust titles, losing the fights for a 3rd title, in the pre-1950's... I think Mickey Miller is the man in question though... with 180 bouts on his record. Former Bantam & Featherweight champ... also attempted to pick up the flyweight title earlier on, but failed by KO twice. Being born, Nigel Shirley, he claims he needed to fight with a name like that. P.S.. If any similation of a brain was encased in my skull, I'd have noticed the last 2 clues... perhaps saving a lot of effort. I think its BOURBAN time!!!!!!!
Mickey Miller's indeed the man....and for your trouble, two empty Courage Draught cans. Remember the jingle...'He's a real expert drinker, Courage Draught is his beer." ...and sadly it tasted like cats pi5s!
mate, thankfully the cans are empty... I'll stick with the bourban. Cheers. Willl post a question in a few mins. :good
Who am I??? A fighter with a poor professional start... losing 5 out of the first 6 bouts, yet mangaged to take an Australian title later on. In a career spanning 15 years, with mixed results, I was the first to put a blemish on a future greats record. This 'future' great was to become Aust Middle and H/W champ, and attempted to take my title also. Pre 1950's.
I sailed with Herb. Funny thing about his record though. Herb loved a drink & I often spent time sitting in the mess room chatting about his career. One thing I do recall vividly is how much he loved San Francisco, & he revelled in the post fight parties, ironically, his record shows none of those US fights.
I actually have Herb listed as a Triple champ... F/W, L/W and jW/W. Eventually taking on Jack Carroll for the W/W title... and lasting 12 rounds in Jacks last title defence. He relinquished his F/W title and lost his jW/W title on the scales.. Must have been a great man to listen too.
