Been a while between questions - time to throw one up. QUESTION Another TV Ringside favourite. In fact would have fought on 3 of the different TV stations that televised fights in that era. Had the rather odd distinction of winning a Commonwealth title without ever winning, or even challenging for, a national title. Sadly no longer with us.
Spot on. Have often wondered what happened to Bobby? Read an article about him years ago, and I think he was known for helping the needy etc. Unfortunately passed away in his early 40's (15+ years ago) but never did hear what happened.
Mate, all I know of Bobby Dunne post career, is he loved a punt and ran as a bookie..... maybe not a registered bookie though.. lol. He'd spent a lot of time working as a counsellor for problem kids and crooks at Turana and other places. Also had a car yard in West Melb?? His departure was a short term affair, as his cancer took hold and spread rapidly.
Here's a who-am-I to give the old 'question time' thread a shot of oxygen: QUESTION New York born and of Irish descent. Started out at 12 years of age as a bantamweight. Won most of his 30 odd amateur bouts by knockout. Competed in the Golden Gloves in the US. Later turned pro as a light heavyweight in the early ‘90’s. Put together a 3 year, approx 10 fight pro career. Fought in 4 different countries and finished with an undefeated record. Later had a dabble at pro wrestling. Better known for something other than boxing or wrestling.
QUESTION Well known current day referee. Fought in two Olympic Games, firstly representing his country of birth and later Australia, where he moved to and still resides. Who are we talking about here?
