Question to Floyd fans regarding his marketing strategy.

Whatever Mayweather's marketing plan is, it's sure as hell is working. He's making more money than anyon else in the sport despite many claiming that they can't stand him, that he's boring, and that he handpicks all of his opponents.

I can't speak for everyone, but I myself don't want to page through 50 posts of BS to get to a real topic. I respond and defend actions based off what I believe to be true, not based off who I like/dislike. So maybe this thread and question really isn't for me.. There's fanatics, but not as near as many as Pac has... Far easier to just ignore the Floyd fanatics....

 

Straight up, IMO, he's just playing the cards he's been dealt. As it turned out in his career, it has proved to be worth a **** ton more money in his bank account (which is the only reason fighters let trained killers blast 'em in the face with lefts and rights) to run with a persona that gets hated on.


There probably is a fine line to balance in whether he lets all that bother him, because he made the choice to get the most money out of it. He's human, of that I'm pretty sure, so I'd imagine some days he laughs at the hate all the way to the bank, while other days it probably gets a bit old...especially when his now older children hear him being villified etc..

I don't think people simply hating on him really gets to Floyd. I think what really bothers him is the perceived lack of recognition. I don't care how the man acts out the ring, that doesn't change the fact that he's brilliant inside the ring and has accomplished an awful lot this sport.

 

Prince and I have both tried to explain in this thread... It's a difference between not getting his just due for his accomplishments, getting people upset enough to want to buy his PPVs to see him lose, and attacking his personal life outside of boxing. He's seeking the second, not first and third.. Understood that part of those two come with the second, but those are what people tend to look at and do the MOST. That was not his intention, IMO. ***** about how he dogs out his opponents or takes it too safe in the ring or something, get off of the high school drama BS and give him his just due for his accomplishments, is what most of his fans and I'm sure he's looking for.

Most Floyd fans don't get upset and run to his defense for every single critical comment made about him... Like I said, it's a few posters who do that.. Easier to just ignore the fanatics... And honestly if the other posters who claim they didn't like the dude, didn't post the stupid **** outside of boxing about him, you wouldn't hear people defending it.... Why don't you talk to the people on the Pac fan side and ask why they keep posting about someone they don't like? :huh
