Let's be real, Margo did not turn down Floyd for Gomez. Margo had already signed to fight Gomez when Judah lost. Team Mayweather offered Margo a fight, but Arum shot it down. His plan was to have Floyd win a title on ppv and then pit the two against eachother that August.
WHy do you constantly post this eze? And why don't you answer my questions about the cancelling? Since you thinks it's that simple. Simple minds, simple answers....
Eze is a ****in idiot Reg. I've tried explaining the situation, but he wants to believe what he wants to believe. He thinks Arum could have simply paid off Gomez and all would be well. Simpleton...
A phoney offer intended to save-face because of all the **** he was getting for ducking Margarito in the first place and some of you simpletons still fell for it
Even if he could've paid off Gomez, he wouldn't have. Margo for damn sure wouldn't turn down that fight. He would've probably fought Mayweather on 1 day's notice.
Now you're stretching the truth also. Either that, or you're getting your timelines confused. The offer for the Gomez fight was in Jan. of 2006. Arum never extended an offer for Floyd to fight Margo until after the Judah fight. Basically, the offer to Margo happened before Floyd got flack for turning down that $8 mil(thay offer didn't come until months later)
Floyd retired knowing sooner or later he would basically be forced by mandatory or fan demands to face either Cotto, Williams or Margarito. He jumped out while ahead. One of the worst Ww champ ever. Which is a shame for someone as talented as he was.
LOL, hey Mayweather fan I am glad you feel that way. I ready explain myself with that comment you replied too.
That is what greed does to people. It hurts your legacy chasing the cash cows and not the best fighters in your division.
Come on, I don't believe tha one bit. Why was Margarito begging Mayweather to fight him if that was the case? Margarito would jump at that fight.
The truth and timeline are right on the mark here! Margarito's name recognition went up after beating Cintron around mid 2005 and his name started making the rounds as a possible PBF opponent. Mayweather went on to fight Mitchell a couple of months after that and decided to take the Judah fight even after Zab lost which brought PBF nothing but ridicule and the accusiations of him ducking Margo started even before the 8million offer from Arum made the rounds! PBF's bogus offer to Margarito took place right before the Gomez fight, which as I stated was just a face-saving attempt.
I like Mayweather. I hate his personality, love his fighting ability. For all of you making an argument though that he was in the division when it was hot... well yes. He was. Who did he fight in this division however? Baldomir and Judah Right? That was 2 years ago(approx). The welterweight division is alive with much more stars that weren't there before. Also... He did not partake in an actual welterweight fight with an actual welterweight contender in the past 2 years(approx). So sure he was "on top" of the division or technically "part of it" but he didn't partake in it? I mean let's be realistic. His opposition, was not better than any of the current top welters. Period. De La Hoya would NOT beat Marg, Clottey, Paul Williams, Cotto(that might be iffy... simpley because he can box/jab and has significant reach/size). Ricky Hatton, well... I won't get into that but he is not able to beat ANY of the top 10 welters. period. No discussion and not an insult.. Just reality. So YES mayweather was there... but it is a huge difference between being there and actually partaking in the challenge.
