Question to those who claim Tyson Fury is still lineal champ. Would he still be if Lennox returned?

To those who keep claiming Fury is still the lineal champion despite:

    - Not fighting for over 2 and a half years
    - Announced his retirement half a dozen times in social media
    - Was stripped of his boxing licence for ages because of drug use
    - Never defended the titles he beat Wlad for
    - Came back against two bums in 10 rounders

What would happen if Lennox The Lion returned in a 10 rounder against someone rubbish like Chris Arreola, Johan Duhapus, Eric Molina, Arthur Szpilka, Bermane Stiverne or Luis Ortiz.

Doesn't he still qualify as lineal champ for the same arguments you make for Fury, in that he was never beat for the titles he won?

unfortunately uk sports stars have little integrity, they are not warriors. uk football team no guts. uk boxing is one big scam that taps into the desperation of the public that wants to to see anyone finally win at something.

What has this got to do with who is the lineal champ if Lewis returned? Whether you think its Lewis, Fury or Joshua it's still someone from the UK unless you have it as vacant

Lennox Lewis retired 15 years ago and never returned. There have been a couple Lineal champs since he retired.

Tyson Fury was stripped of the Lineal title by RING in February 2018 because of inactivity.

They stripped him weeks before he announced his comeback.

Fury is going to end up having three fights in 2018, one for the WBC title.

Tyson Fury will have more fights this year than any other heavyweight in the top 10.

Clearly, RING jumped the gun, AGAIN.

Fans years from now will look back and see that RING stripped the Lineal champ of his title for inactivity the same year he was the most active heavyweight in boxing.

    They are idiots.

The Ring heavyweight championship & the lineal heavyweight championship are two different things.

Agree that the ding-a-lings at The Ring fluffed it completely by "stripping" Fury for inactivity after he had announced he was intending to resume. But that's another story.

The answer to the original post is that yes, Lennox Lewis could come out of retirement, declare himself the one true lineal champion and his earlier claim to the lineal championship would take precedence over a later claim (although would not extinguish the later claim in its entirety b/c a new lineage was formed during Klitschko's championship reign).

But I take the view that a legitimate earlier claim to the crown takes precedence over a later claim - that's what title lineage is all about.

So if AJ & Fast Eddie want to pull a swifty on Fury & Wilder, all they need to do is come up with $100 odd million, lure Lennox out of retirement, have him assert his claim to the lineal championship (b/c a person with a claim to the crown actually has to assert it) and then fight & defeat him in the ring instead of the Fury v Wilder winner.

Let us know when that happens.

The RING has the following rules of when to strip a champion which Fury broke by a considerable distance, some of which he's still not met, so they was perfectly justified in taking the belt off him:

    • The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months.
    • The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
    • The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.
    • The Champion retires.
    • The Champion tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Joshua fans have become obsessed with the lineal championship.

Do yourselves a favour & take your own advice.

Come up with $100 odd million, make Lennox an offer he can't refuse, get him to assert his claim to the lineal championship & then get Joshua to face him in the ring & beat him.

Then you won't need to worry about what Fury & Wilder are doing.

AJ's nothing but a chemically engineered bodybuilder. He should be fighting in a yellow thong. Even at 52 the Lion mauls him

Yes Fury would still be the champ after he challenges Lewis, easily avoids his wide punches and turns his face into a 'Chisora II' bloodied balloon, forcing the stoppage. Then he would call out Vitali and easily outbox him. Wlad would be too busy kissing AJ's ass and submitting to his conqueror for social approval, while complaining about microaggressions on Twitter because Fury called him boring and keeps highlighting loyal Paris' pregnancies while Wlad's investment in a degenerate actress has strangely failed to work out.

Or better yet, how about a PPV seance held at Wembley stadium where the ghosts of Louis, Dempsey, Johnson, Marciano, Ali and Frazier can be summoned to defend their belts.
