In May 2005, aged 34, he came out of retirement and travelled to Bolton, England for a third fight with Amir Khan. He had beaten Khan twice already the previous year – in the Pre-Olympic tournament and the Olympic Lightweight final – however Khan had become a popular attraction in the UK and a third fight was arranged to set up his professional debut. Khan beat Kindelan on points 19-13.
Having retired, he is generally considered as one of the greatest amateur boxers ever seen, leading to the comment during his final fight by the boxing commentator that he was "a professional in a vest".
Typical for athletes from Cuba, where professional sport is prohibited, his reward is pride in representing his people on the Olympic stage. He said, of being offered $1 million to compete professionally, "I thanked them, but money cannot buy what I have."

The question I always wondered was - how was pro boxing promoter Frank W-rren allowed to stage an "AMATEUR" boxing contest ?

I remember only 20 or 30 years ago the rules in the UK between professional and amateur was VERY strict.
Amateurs and professionals were not allowed to mix so easily, there were loads of prohibitions on what involvement professionals were allowed within the amateur game. There is no way a professional promoter would be allowed to stage an amateur contest under his own banner and put it on TV.
It seems that by 2005 there were no rules or amateur code whatsoever. It seems the amateur game sold out to the professional promoters.

We all know that was just an exhibition in which Kindalin was there to let Khan win.

The whole thing was a ****ing sham.

He cant have been that old or past it. The bout took place within a year maximum of the olympics where he took Khan to school.

Kindelan - last fight before retirement

Khan - Last amature fight before going pro

promoter - Never going to do another amature promotion

What exactly were the amature associations going to do about it?

Dunno if it was fixed or not, who cares, it was a showcase fight, an exhibition, doesn't really impact either fighters reputation. Certainly it meant more to Khan, maybe that's all it took.

khan was up first half of the olympic fight so wasn't schooled, kindelan stopped training after the olympics and khan kept fighting also won by only 6 points which isn't all that much against an old fighter,
