Clash of heads or ilegal blow. Same thing.. It would have been nice to see a big T - UD for Dirrel!

It was deemed an intentional foul.

Ward's headbutts were deemed unintentional - if Ward's headbutts were deemed intentional and they stopped the fight cause of the bleeding they caused I think it would be a draw?

Because it's a very serious foul even if probably unintentional.

No, DQ is the correct call, fighters should learn the rules and pay hard if they don't, because health is on the stake.

The clash of heads was ruled accidental. The late punch was ruled deliberate. If a fighter can't continue because he was deliberately fouled, his opponent is disqualified.

It only goes to the scorecards if a cut was caused by an accidental headbutt. If the cut is from a punch, it's a TKO for the opponent, if it was an intentional butt it should be a DQ if the opponent can't continue.

If Dirrell was able to continue the fight would have continued. He wasn't so he got the DQ win. No scorecards.

hmm.. okay.. Then what if Dirrel had a solid chin and didnt go down but only being staggered... And the fight conteniued till round 12 where Dirrel forfeits cuz of a smaller concusion..

Would it then still be a DQ?

Headbuts happends allot in fights like low blows...
But ive seen many fight when a boxer gets knocked down on his knees and srill gets a blow when he is down- And I never saw a DQ for that..

It would have been a point off for AA (mostly likely) and they would have carried on. If AA then KO'ed Dirrell (legally) then he wins.

In most cases, referees will allow some leniancy (unless you're Joe Cortez obviously) as the fighter may not be aware that the opponent was already down/may have already been in the process of throwing a punch. This was more clearcut as Dirrell was clearly down and Abraham cannot have been unaware that he was. Abraham missed with a swing as Dirrell was going down then lined up and landed a shot at Dirrell's chin.

Only on ESB could there be this amount of anxt and confusion about a fighter landing a heavy blow on a man on the ground and getting DQ'd for it.

 Yeah it was a heavy shot and a clear DQ. Abraham was coming on and must know that he ****ed up big time today, as he still had a chance to pull out the KO.

rocky marciano hit ezzard charles when he was on the canvas and nobody said anything. AA would have KNOCKED Dirrel Out, that was the only way for dirrel to win, throw himself on the canvas and hope that AA hits him and he gets DQ.

AA knocked Dirrel down in the 10 th round and was beating him badly , while Dirrel was at the end of his powers. In the 11 round he would have been KOd, but like he usualy does when hes under pressure Dirrel throwed himself on the canvas and waited for the biased referee to stop the action and give him time to recover.Abaham in the heat of the action could not avoid his right hand from hitting Dirrel head.
