Yeah they deserve the same critiscm and I address them too. I have defended Wilder millions of times regarding his chin.
It's a bit of a silly argument to say 'anyone that questions a fighter shouldn't, because they aren't as brave or tough as a professional boxer themselves'. People aren't criticising fighters and then saying "I wouldn't have quit" - they're talking relatively, comparing them as they should be, to other professional boxers.
Guys please let's not make the mistake of comparing regular fighters to real fighting men (ie. gypsies) because us travelling folk are a different breed of fighter and we're groomed to fight from birth.
Light punching Andy Ruiz? Dude, he was a 270 pound man throwing absolute bombs last night. Fast, violent bombs looking to take AJ's head off. He deserves all the credit in the world.
im not questioning aj's heart, i know hes got grit. but there are fighters who have the type of heart that would have had them glued to the refs instructions because they are so afraid the fight might get stopped, they really, really want to fight. thats the type of gameness that should be celebrated, where it falls on his team to protect him from himself cause hes got no quit in him. aj was physically and mentally exhausted and had lost enough confidence to have to start to question continuing... just enough doubt.
First of all I never said pro's are tougher than non pro's, so get that clear in your head. Secondly, not once in the comments I am referring to did the poster make a comparison. They flat out said, this fighter has no heart end of. In fact I haven't seen any discussions on a fighters heart head-to- head comparisons... that would just be pathetic, it is not as measurable as people think. I've seen head to head comparisons on durbality however. My bottom line, don't open your mouth unless you have been through the same ****, and I don't see any other pro fighters saying AJ or Parker had no heart, just keyboard warriors on here.
I dont think AJ quitted. I think he was too out and tired, liver shot, bloodied nose and a concussion.
In this sport you have to be smart, Dillian made the mistake that you have just encouraged in your post. He tried to tough it out and man it out to the referee and got ****ed. He mentioned this many times. And has since fixed the issue with having too much heart to not take a knee, which is the sensible thing to do. Fine line between showing too much heart, and being really stupid.
Where do you draw the line then? Is it just about heart/bravery or are we not allowed to comment on a boxers overall performance if we haven't boxed professionally ourselves? May as well close the forum then. People are always going to discuss things; 'heart' is a big part of boxing and obviously it'll be discussed.
i wasnt discussing smarts, i was talking heart, i think i was pretty clear. now if your talking smarts, fighting a guy who is faster than you, with your chin in the air, aint too smart.
How about we just don't judge a fighters heart period? Specifically top fighters that have grinded their way to the top. It's unfounded to be doing so when you ain't going through the pain yourself, it's a completely subjective, psychological aspect that is influenced by too many factors on any given day. It's clear when a fighter quits and clear when a fighter is showing heart. And Parker and AJ have shown tremendous amounts of heart in specific bouts based on the punishment they took, and their determination to continue. I have a problem with the brashness and the insensitivity, in flat out accusing AJ/Parker in having no heart.
AJ is delusional atm. He's giving interviews talking about they have to tighten **** up as if some adjustments are going to make a positive effect in the gulf that is the difference between boxing craft of Ruiz vs Joshua. They, Joshua;'s team ain't too smart either.
