Where we place our heroes of the sport is a very subjective thing but I'm tired of hearing "calzaghe would only just scrape my 100" comments. Two things wring with this: I bet none of you have a top 100 that you can name anyway and..... Please tell me why any fighter would take insult fromthe fact that you've just said he is in the 100 greatest fighters of all time? How many have there been? And you say he is in the top 100. If anything, that is a compliment. I don't know where I'd place home but I do know that some people need to think more about the shite that exits their mouths
Personally, I have never sat down and made a "top 100" For one thing, I don't have the knowledge of the earlier boxers. But I would be pretty naive to think that someone with the knowledge couldn't come up with 100 better fighters than Joe Calzaghe given the past 110 years. It is all subjective. To each his own. The attribute I would look for in such a list do not favour Calzaghe. I'm sure he is personally okay with that - Not like he was fighting for legacy anyways.
How many of these threads must we suffer. The damn Mod is so busy banning folk based on his/her racist notions when he/she should be deleting these once per week redundant threads.
like the other poster stated above about not sat down and write 100 but i am very confident that i can find 100 that is better.
there's over 200 fighters in the hall of fame. he'll probably get voted in and will clearly be one of the worst to make it. he's not top 200.
people are hard on Joe. fighting the best he could fight including Eubank,Hopkins,Kessler,Jones,Manfredo, Lacy and retiring undefeated? Worst to make it? I am not sure about that.
I agree. I think the guy was a good fighter. I don't consider him ATG, but hey it seems like he is on paper.. the british like him so it is what it is.
