We know about Mayweather's skills. We know he has one of the greatest defenses of all time. We know about his in ring intelligence. We know about his speed, mobility, and athletic abilities. We know about his ability to adjust and stay composed under fire. We know about his accomplishments and his years and years as being considered one of the absolute best in the business. Out of all the things we know about Floyd, we still had foolish questions about how good he was, how much heart he had, and even if he had a good chin. He answered those questions again last night. Facing a fighter that some(haters) said he was avoiding and would never fight. He took the hardest and most brutal shot he's ever taken in his career. Not only did he take the punch, but after nearly getting knocked down, he actually continued to walk his opponent down. Even I admit that was shocking. Mayweather has never walked down anyone bigger than him and to do it after being hurt was impressive. The ironic thing is, he did this against a fighter that Team Pacquiao refused to fight, because he was too good for Manny. He showed heart, toughness, skill, and intelligence at the same time. Some said he wasn't a warrior or gladiator, because he uses skill and has enough sense not to take worthless punishment. Believe it or not, gladiators actually used strategy in order to try and survive. They didn't just go out there fighting to the death and neither does Floyd. Once again, Mayweather proved all of the doubters wrong. What he showed last night is why he is without question, the greatest fighter of this generation. He's the most complete fighter around.
It's also safe to say that Mayweather is the number 1 draw in the sport now and has way more leverage than Pacquiao if they negotiate another fight. Also, the tests were done so no one can use the "it's never been before" argument. Pacquiao has to agree to the testing and there is no legitimate reason not to.
If Mayweather and GBP were so concerned about drugs in boxing how come none of the boxers on the under card had to do blood tests? Sorry but it seems hypocritical to me.
I agree. If your as famous and powerful in your sport like Pacman is, and you have the desire to fight and win like he portrays, you cant let a fear of needles keep the biggest fight in the sport today from happening. I respect Pacman and understand he doesnt want to do the test but in this situation he should just get over it and do it for the sport and the fans. Its not like Floyds not taking the same tests.
Maybe they wanted the Mayweather fight to be the first? These tests are also kind of expensive as that has already been reported. The fighters were paying for this out of their own pockets. The important thing is, this helped bring awareness to the need for better testing and now you have some commissions looking into potentially improving it. If the commissions eventually change their rules, all fighters would be eligible for testing. It never looks good when people try to deflect attention from the original topic.
Can anyone truly gauge who the bigger draw is by comparing Pacquiao against a no name among casual fans such as Clottey and Floyd who fights name opponents with a fan base? Not trolling.serious question.Think about it.To really determine how much of a draw the guy is, Floyd should have also fought a no name and see how it went.Pac fought someone that most hardcore boxing fans will say sucks to high hell, and proved he sucks, but Pac still drew 700K on his own.Mayweather has only been after big money fights and guarantee draws,so how can we be sure he's the actual reason people buy the fight compared to Pac when(probably if) they do fight?
Mayweather has better overall numbers than Pacquiao since both have been on PPV. He also has better numbers against every single common opponent. According to an article that I read a few days ago, with the exception of Tyson he has the highest average of PPV buys in history. Kevin Iole: "According to research by Mark Taffet, HBO’s’ senior vice president of sports operations and pay-per-view, Mayweather’s average PPV revenue of $48.8 million is the highest in history. His average of 916,000 pay-per-view buys is second in history to only Mike Tyson. And in just six pay-per-view events, he ranks fifth in total purchases with 5.5 million and in total revenue with $292.7 million."
I wasn't shocked with PBF's reaction when he was stunned. Just like Naszim said on 24/7 when Mosley hits PBF with somethig big. PBF will grow a tail turn into a dragon and spit out fireballs. Nasim knew like some did that PBF has underrated toughness and isn't a ***** like most think he is. When he's faced with adversity he fires back.
He is not going to fight a no name like Pacquiao did! Thats the difference Floyd is out to fight the best in the sport. Please tell me why the hell did Pacquiao fight Clottey in the first place. Thats his own fault.
