CAn anybody tell me what was wrong with pavlik during the 2nd Taylor fight? he seemed to tell his trainer something in his ear and his trainer told him to suck it up?

Can Pavlik fight in the pocket? we know he has the long 1-2 but if some one smothers his punches does he have shorter effective punches?

Also, Pavlik looked abit average tonight does anyone believe A.A. or Andy Lee can beat Pavlik?

I doubt anything was wrong with Pavlik, Taylor just fought a smarter fight this time and made Pavlik show how sloppy he is. Pavlik is a very basic, beatable fighter, but there are no elite fighters at 160 right now or good defensive fighters at all. Andy Lee has very little to no chance against him and Abraham has a realistic chance against him. He fight in spurts though and would need to catch Pavlik, then knock him out to win.. Pavlik is too active for him to win a decision.

Pavlik is decent in the pocket, but loses a lot effectiveness. He is best when he is at a comfortable distance.

I said it before the fight and I'll say it now: Pavlik is beatable against somebody with defensive awareness, the wherewithal to take away his right hand, lateral movement, angles, and speed. He's an effective/methodical straight forward fighter with little variation in his movement. He needs to have a stationary target or have his feet planted to land with full force. However, he can win fights against faster B-level boxers with movement by stepping forward with the jab and firing off punches at a consistent pace. This wouldn't work too well against the elites like Kessler or Calzaghe.

I'd take him over Andy Lee by stoppage right now. Abraham has the power to stop him, but I don't like the way he voluntarilly backs into the ropes and corners with his high guard defense and fights for only 20-25 seconds a round. Pavlik likely outworks him to a 12 round decision with some rough spots along the way. I'd actually take Pavlik over every 160 pounder and every 154 pounder moving up. So he should definitely stay at middleweight and try to build a legacy.

Because of his punching power Andy Lee can beat Pavlik.

In all honesty I think Pavlik either had an "off" night or was just too complacent....he was'nt as aggressive or active....and could'nt seem to develop a solid rhythem...wasn't as sharp...so yes he can fight good in the pocket....No Andy Lee cant beat Pavlik....and AA does have a chance

As I told you before - either Pavlik by decision (AA can't win a points verdict due to his poor work rate) or Abraham by KO.

Lee should still gain some experience before stepping up to fight Pavlik.

Btw, what do ya think about Tito vs. Pavlik now?

I read on a boxing website that Tito wont come down to 160 and that the fight likely isn't going to happen.

So it's Pavlik vs. Duddy in June...

And this tells you that AA is no compition to Pavlik?
When SE tells me that they are in serious negotiations with Arum and Arum says the same it should be taken into account...

I've always predicted Arthur to beat him, Lee is a bit green but given 18 months its also possible

He's a very basic fighter, and some of his flaws showed. He's very predictable, you could see Taylor had learnt from his mistakes as he blocked a lot of Pavlik's obvious plodding and Taylor is hardly a defensive genius

Someone with good movement and defence and/or KO power can outbox him, and possibly knock him out as his defence isn't any better

where did i say that AA was no competion for pavlik??

AA promoter has been saying stuff like "we are gonna invande the us" for a long time. that they would fight taylor pavlik.........whoever.

but instead they stay home and fight.............sebastian demers, wayne elcock and elvin ayala. nuff said.
