Does anyone know when smelling salts were banned from British boxing and can you provide documentation of it?

Did Ali cheat in the first Cooper fight by illegally using smelling salts after he was knocked own?

    Thanks!

I rang the BBB of C up about this they guy on the other end didn't have a clue !
I beleive they were banned by the time the Cooper/ Ali first fight took place.

Lotsa' stuff has been banned over the years, but cheating in the corner still went on up until 1982 or so when Team Pryor was caught on tape with the "Black Bottle" issue by the HBO camera and mic at the Orange Bowl with Al Arguello in the other corner looking perplexed that he couldn't stop Pryor's onslaught....

Nowadays, a man from the local commission goes up onto the ring apron during the break and looks and listens to the head trainer and watches closely that he isn't trying to slip or add any other elements into the corner except for Bandages, Scissors, Vaseline, Sponge, Q-tips, Tape and Water / Ice....

But I know goddamn well that smelling salts were used up until the 1980s for sure....

Smelling Salts were banned prior to Ali vs Cooper. You can see Dundee using smelling salts to " wake " Ali up. Ali's head jerks backward and his eyes look like pinballs.

Under the rules, Ali could have been DQ'd.
