Long time reader first time poster here with a few questions on Amateur Boxing particularly in Britain. I have looked but no conclusive answers and no response from ABA. I am in training for my first fight expected around mid 2017.

    1) Can you box as an amateur independently of a club? Some countries do not have the club system like England.
    2) What's the protocol for a British individual boxing as an amateur abroad regularly? I'm traveling abroad for a long time and would like to build up my record.
    3) what about foreign amateurs boxing in Britain on a regular basis? The reverse of my situation in question 2?
    4) Who verifies amateur records and how? Is something signed after every fight?

Thanks in advance. I'll respond promptly.

    1) No got to be registered to a club
    2) I believe your club has to request permission from England Boxing and arrange insurance, your probably better registering with a club wherever your going to be based
    3) They would register with a club over here, they can't enter any novice championships and have to be registered with that club for 12 months before can go into open class championships
    4) OIC at each show (new name now under AIBA) keeps a record, and your medical card is updated after each fight with who you boxed/date/result

If you go onto England boxing website and e-mail them they could probably answer question 2 more conclusively than I have

Thanks Guy I appreciate your help,

I emailed them but had no reply. I also read their rule book and the AIBA technical rule book which didn't help me either. I'll try them again

Aiba rulebook appears to me anyway largely to cover international boxing and suggest that each governing body can make changes. I've had foreign boxers over here they all fell under our rules which leads me to suspect would be the same the other way round. I have a good friend who moved abroad with work and boxed their he had to register with foreign club/national body and declare previous experience.

England did reply to me earlier in the summer on a query however it appears the vault has caused a lot more work than expected

    Thanks again Guy,

I know that the vault thing has been causing a few issues so maybe that's why. I'm asking these questions mainly as I'll be between 2 countries an awful lot, and the country I'm travelling is a strong one for amateur boxing, they prefer a competitive bout instead of sparring so it means I could box someone different every weekend to build up my record and gain experience. But for the time being I'm in England and I would like to start my amateur career here

Do you know whether it would be possible for me to register both in Britain and abroad as that seems like the most obvious choice?

I did forget to ask them this in my email, so I'll send another

Hello. I know of an example of somebody boxing in ABA's and foreign equivalent but apparently shouldn't happen. I believe as long as your open about it you can hold a card in 2 countries. The way I believe it to work you'd register over here, but when you move you'd take your card and box in new country. Don't think you can box in them alongside each other so to speak, so be registered here then when you go over there over there till you return. It's a cloudy issue and I believe always has been, probably best cleared up with England boxing
