Questions regarding Marg's handwraps

That's whats most suspect...Most fighters remove the gauze too...After the Cotto fight, Cotto had his gauze removed. Why wouldn't he take off the gauze? :think

I mean people don't bother to look because of what happens after a Margarito fight. No one bothers thinking about his wraps...they just think "Damn, this guy can take a punch and ****ed me up."

I honestly didn't even hear the illegal hand-wrap report during the Mosley fight because I was so engulfed in the action of the bout.

But if you look at it the other way around...it all begins to make sense. During all his previous fights as to why Cintron would cry (who's a grown ass man) from a body shot that although looked good...didn't appear devastating...why his punches look weak, but were "thudding"...why all of a sudden he comes back in the second half of the fight...

if you've ever been hit with a body shot on the sweetspot/liver you wouldnt question the potential of it.

 

I remember Doc Kearns said Dempsey's gloves were loaded when he destroyed Williard.

I think the Ring Magazine in the 60's did a test on some "plastered"-up gloves and said it would F-up your own hands if you did it.

Some of the old-timers on this blog might remember that Ring Article too.

I am just waiting to see how things shake out before passing judgement.

 

It's been my own personal view for a long time that the boxing camps, as well as the commissions, are generally lax about what goes on with handwraps, tape, and foreign substances.

When we hear about somebody getting caught doing something it's not the least bit surprising. So I'm somewhat opposed to the position that something is "terribly wrong" in that sense. Yeah, it's terribly wrong, but it's normal. It's always been terribly wrong.

 

Trapping a hard substance inside the glove with your hand doesn't sound like it would feel very good.

I'll say that much..

 

For one ......Nazim was on the lookout for it....I believe he suspected something and kept a vigil and keen eye and voila he recognized an irregularity.
I think the previous trainers were negligent and oblivious do to in most part inexperience.

 

It is terribly wrong. Anybody who does it should be stoned to death - right along with the commission officials and head trainers of all the camps who have allowed this evil to exist through their negligence and stupidity.

Who is more guilty? The 'bad buy' who gets away with it, or the representatives of the opposing camp, who FAILED to protect their fighter? The fighter puts his life and safety in their hands.

You better believe Evangelista Cotto is saying he "didn't see anything." He didn't. Oh, nooo.. Because if something did happen it was his responsibility. Where was Billy Collins Sr. that night?

 

The report of the wraps came when Margo was coming out, not during the fight.

 

I don't believe that plaster would have time to dry and harden properly inside a sweaty pair of boxing gloves.
Plus the way the hands are wrapped would make it impossible to make a solid fist if the material were to harden, resulting in multiple finger injuries for the poor ******* wearing them.
Sounds like a load of shite to me.
