The outpouring of community support continues for boxer Oscar Diaz at a prayer vigil Monday night. His family talked to News 4 at the service about how they felt when he collapsed in the ring during a national televised fight last Wednesday. "We just saw his legs wobble and I just jumped over the gate and went in there because I had no idea. I just wanted to run to him and jump on top of him and make sure he was okay," said Teresa Zdunczyk, his sister who was at the fight. About a hundred people were at the prayer vigil praying for Diaz' recovery. "We are going to continue praying until we see that Oscar Diaz calls us, comes and shakes our hand and gives us a hug," said the prayer leader at Ministerios Nueva Vision church. Diaz' family told New 4 his condition has not changed much. He is still in critical condition at University Hospital. Doctors had to remove part of his skull to ease swelling on his brain. A donation fund is set up in Oscar's name. If you'd like to help with his medical costs, you can donate at the San Antonio National Bank at 45 NE Loop 410. University Hospital is also accepting donations in Oscar's name. For more information, call 210-358-2812.
I just hope he can walk/talk/eat by himself after this. All the ESB'rs who love this sport should donate to his fund. Do the right thing.
I think he is only 25 years old.....but been around boxing a long time. I was in my prime at 25....and I am not a boxer.
