A lot of people don't give him credit. Manny Pacquiao wants the lion's share of the purse if they ever meet.
I think PPV numbers like that are relatively rare. Even Oscar had PPVs with lower numbers than your estimate. The first Oscar Mosley fight had less than 600,000, though the second was considerably higher. I don't think this fight is giving the kind of promotion required, but hey - I never say never.
I really don't care about ppv sales. Floyd likes to talk about that, so if the fight doesn't sell like he thinks it should, fans can crack on him. But as an ex-boxer/fan...I never hope that Floyd's, Pav's, Pac's, Cotto, or any other fighters ppv fights fail at the box office. Maybe it is just me. You have to be able to separate the talk from reality.
Why would any fan hope that JMM-Floyd flops at the box office? So you can try to shite on both fighters fans lol...on a boxing forum?
Oscar did 900k fighting Mayorga. Hatton could sell out any stadium in the U.K fighting pretty much anyone. Floyd's fight with Marquez will guage how much of a draw he really is.
Did your friends who dont know anything about boxing tell u that? Or did u believe Mayweather Sr. when he said it? Either way, you have to dumb to believe something like that. After an almost 2 year lay-off a fight with someone of JMM's caliber is anything but a tune-up.
Mayweather has always done solid PPV numbers, or real good ones with a big name in the other corner. The fights with Gatti and Judah were in the mid to higher 300k range, and Baldomir around 325k. However, the early talk about the upcoming bout with Marquez doesn't look good.
