Why did he never unify the belts? I understand that he "cleaned the division"...but isn't holding only one of the four major belts in argument with that? I wasn't a boxing fan in the late 90s, was it a politics thing? It just strikes me as odd that he never fought ANY other beltholder @ 130...wouldn't the guy(s) holding the other three belts represent the top threats to his reign at superfeather?
Floyd never gave a **** about any other belt but the WBC.. C money will say otherwise..but as evidence and his own mouth and the fact he always fought the WBC champ and never gave a **** about other belts kind of makes that point.
Not entirely true. After he beat Corrales, he stated he wanted to fight the winner of Casa(WBA SFW champ) and Freitas(WBO SFW champ). The fight between those two happened like a year later for some reason. I'm not entirely sure why a fight between Floyd and Freitas never happened at 130
