    1) Ive recently got some cod liver oil capsules. Firstly when shoudl i take them and how many? Should i not take them after work outs etc.?

Secondly ive heard fish oil is better aswell as omega 3,5,6 has better properties for boxing training any one have any personal experience/knowledge on this???

2)Acquired some Zinc tablests 15mg. Are they useful without magnesium?? how many should i be taking a night (no calcium empty stomach).

    3) Is there anything which can help with knee troubles?

the packet of the supplements should tell you. But seeing how must of them are vitamins or mineral you cant overdose on them cuz your body just washes them out when you pee. A good trick is when your well hydrated and still pissing coloured urine then it means you have too much minerals in your system that youbody doesnt need

yeah but ive heard it said to take 10 gel capsules of cod liver oil a day whereas on the packet it says 2

Obviously the needs/wants of people who are training regularly and at different ages/weights etc. varies so i wanted some guidelines from someone with personal experience.

Cheers I drink tons of water all day long though so my urine is always clear so that indicator might not work

The cod liver oil is essentially the same as fish oil in terms of omega 3 fats (the ones you are most probably lacking compared to 6 and 9) except that cod liver oil contains lots of vitamin A so you might want to kep that in mind.

If you got no issues with vitamin A then you should be ok....If you are going to be taking high doses of fish oil though Id buy fish oil instead of cod liver oil because of the vitamin A content.

As for the zinc, do NOT take it on an empty stomach because you will get the worst stomach cramps and pains ever. They will be fine without magnesium and no calcium just take it with a meal, it wont absorb as well but you wont get stomach pains.

You can take the fish oil sups whenever you want really, probably best after training because the omega 3 fats help reduce inflammation i the body which will be beneficial to recovery.

As for zinc, take it during a meal, doesnt matter whether its lunch or dinner imo

EDIT: As for knee trouble you could look into glucosamine although Ive never used it myself

Having too many vitamins and minerals is just as bad as not having enough, luckily supplements aren't absorbed like vitamins from food are. Which makes taking supplements redundant in my opinion. There are all sorts of illnesses and afflictions that can come from overdosing on vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin so it's not needed often which means everybody needs to watch how much they consume.

You can overdose on vitamins, especially the fat soluble ones like vit A, D, and K. You can screw up your liver and kidneys, but it usually takes very large doses over a period of time.

  8. Lefty you never answer the question what style you are.

Are you a Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao?

Or a Lucian Bute or a Nonito Donaire?

Floyd = Right handed orthodox who writes with his right hand

Manny = Right handed southpaw who writes with his right hand

Lucian = Left handed southpaw forced to write with his right hand

Nonito = Left handed orthodox forced to write with his right hand

BTW, if fish is part of your normal everyday diet, consuming fish oil supplements just sounds like a waste of money.

  10. Frankie = Left handed southpaw who writes with his left hand

Frazier = Left handed orthodox who writes with his left hand

Which clearly you said you were not.

  11. You’re either a Manny or Lucian because you said you’re a southpaw who writes with his right hand.

I don't understand you and why you want to know? I'm naturally right handed, I write with my right most of the time, sometimes use my left if I'm in a more comfortable position for it, I do it without thinking and my left handed writing is basically the same. I shoot hoops with my left, play raquet sports with my right. I box primarily out of the southpaw stance, very occasionally I'll turn orthodox If I feel like it. I'm left eye and ear dominant.
So what am I? I've given you all the information. Maybe I have dyspraxia? Ambidextrous? It makes no difference, any skilled performer should be equally proficient with both hands anyway. What's with the obsession?

Tuna is a bit of a **** fish to eat, small quntities of omega oils and full of mercury.
Try getting some fresh salmon with the skin on it, fry it up in a pan. I don't see how anybody couldn't enjoy that, as long as you don't overcook it.

Im a big fan of salmon except for the price which is a bit much on my student budget to eat regularly. I mainly eat chicken and eggs due to their cheapness and a bit of red meat on the occasion i can afford it.
