Outboxed Chisora better than Whyte did.
Good wins over Hunter and Bellew (two-time daddy of Haye)

And the eye-test. He's clearly more skilled, if a bit on the small side.

The two should probably meet to determine which one gets a title shot.

Outboxing an ancient Chisora doesn't mean anything. Nor does the eye test because your eye hasn't seen him fight a legitimate heavy weight

Personally I think you and @cuchulain both make valid points here. I do believe you could make a case either way, and time should help sort this out and provide us with more information.

It's not a question of blame.
It's just a fact that Povetkin wasn't at his best (Covid and age) for whatever reason. That detracts from the value of the win.
That, combined with his being brutally KO'd in the first fight, point to a questionable series with a well-past-prime and compromised Povetkin.

Obviously, his standing improves slightly from the end of 2020, but its was hardly an earth-shattering win. And it was probably the highlight of his resume.

Nice guy, but unlikely to beat AJ or Fury. I would make him 50-50 v Usyk.

    I made the case.
As we are talking speculative hypotheticals, there is no right answer.

Time and future bouts will provide the answers.

If the top HWs ever get around to facing each other !

    LOL.
Pre injuries Gassiev and Briedis for sure had KOed Chisora and Whyte out cold and clean. Most likely also prime Huck before he get beatup from prime Glowacki and moderate beatup from Briedis and stoppage from Usyk.

Both, Whyte and Chisora are worse than Dorticos, not alone Usyk who looks that is old now.

If these boxers: Whyte and Chisora did not had in the ring legless long years over the hill shadow of Povetkin or over the hill Usyk but Dorticos or Gassiev version from WBSS1 or Briedis version from WBSS1 vs Usyk they had been ended knocked out cold.
The same vs Usyk in shape he had vs Glowacki, Huck and Briedis. This version had KTFOed them out cold.

Whyte Povetkin 2 reminds of Lewis McCall 2, because 1 of the fighters was not fit to fight. Povetkin probably didn’t even train. He just came to pick up his retirement check.
Whyte would never beat healthy Povetkin and prime Sasha would KO him easily in a couple of rounds.
