Ever since Lou Dibella left HBO, his promotional company has been quietly signing prospects, the majority of them coming from the Northeast. This is evident in his Broadway Boxing shows, which usually offer his up-and-comers. If you look at his current stable, Dibella has quite a lot of good current fighters as well as prospects. Aside from his pride and joy in Jermain Taylor, he also employs among others: Cristian Mijares Carlos Quintana Paul Malignaggi Andre Berto Ronald Hearns Chazz Witherspoon (although I think he will be more hype than truth) Ike Quartey (still serviceable) On the flipside, one company that has really hit the skids is Main Events. The company that once housed Holyfield, Whitaker, Gatti, and Vargas all under one roof has shown nothing as of late. They rode Gatti and Vargas as far as they could go. Worst of all, they steered Juan Diaz to the title only to let him slip away to King. (Juan has since signed with Golden Boy). Kermit Cintron has been emphatically sent back to Reading twice by Margarito, and I don't know of any prospects they have signed aside from Joel Julio, who is still a huge question mark. Main Events had a nice deal with ESPN2 when Diaz first won the WBA 135 belt, showcasing him as well as Julio and San Antonio bantam prospect Raul Martinez. However, I don't see Martinez listed on their site anymore. Thoughts anyone?
Doesn't Main Events promote Sam Peter? Not that it matters, Lou D. has done a great job, especially with Broadway boxing cards on SNY in New York.
Main Events has Tomasz Adamek and Giovanni Lorenzo also, but that's about it. Yeah, they've fallen off. Not even second-tier anymore. They've been passed by promoters like DiBella, Sycuan, Seminole Warriors, and Goosen Tutor. http://www.mainevents.com/roster.php
