    QUIGG LANDS WORLD TITLE ELIMINATOR

SCOTT QUIGG’S showdown against Franklin Varela next month will be a WBA world title eliminator.
The 22-year-old will also risk WBA intercontinental super-bantamweight title against the Venezuelan in his hometown at Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday July 23.
But crucially the prestigious governing body have made the bout an eliminator for Japanese star Akifumi Shimoda’s WBA world crown.
In the organisation’s latest published rankings Scott is ranked seventh, with Varela just behind him at number 11.
Whoever wins the Bury brawl will be elevated higher and closing in on the winner of Shimoda’s defence next month against number one contender Rico Ramos.
Quigg who is also due to meet British champion Jason Booth in October has won all 21 pro fights.
He said after receiving the news from Hatton Promotions agent Philippe Fondu: “I am buzzing about the news and Hatton Promotions have delivered yet again.”
Varela has won 19 of his 24 contests and Hatton Promotions President Ricky Hatton added: “We have moved Scot along steadily, but now he is in world class and will prove it against Varela.

Hatton is not hanging around getting Quigg a world title shot, but what happens with the proposed British Title fight with Booth?

This is just one of those preliminary eliminator not final eliminator I only really want to see him in with Booth and Frampton after that then look to world level. These big domestic fights need to happen :deal

It's just to get him highly ranked by the WBA. He will still fight at british level i think for the next 12 months imo. When he is ready for that level he will be ranked high enough to get a shot.

Gives him a way of avoiding a fight with Frampton though. Thats the problem.

Fair play to Quigg, put the shitty belts aside he has faced decent oppositon and fight reguarly. But become the best in your country before you take on the world.

Ye you can see exactly what Hatton will do with him which is frustrating. I just want him to make a few defences of the British title if he wins it. There should be plenty of decent competition at British level to test himself against.

    Arthur,Booth,Hughes and potentially Mcdonnell/Hall

Frampton shouldn't be allowed to fight for the british title! But i really want to see the fight happen.

Mcdonnell has been struggling with the Bantamweight limit for a while. I dont think Hall does. I think the loser will move up.
