I'll go with Scott Quigg so my dad can shut up about Oscar Valdez. He saw him fight once and thinks Valdez is the second coming of Christ.
Valdez - if he boxes to his potential. If he goes in-face first winging home-run shots he gives Quigg a great chance.
Valdez is pretty overrated, but Quigg is extremely limited. I think Valdez will win, but Quigg will have his moments.
I have got to go with Valdez. Quigg is a live underdog but Quigg has regressed in my opinion, he looks so easy to hit now.
Quigg has looked like a beast recently, Valdez not so much, he clearly lacks pop, in spite of the series of impressive stoppage wins he went on for a while, he's not a devastating KO artist, and I think if Quigg shores up his defense a little, and intelligently walks down Valdez, Oscar is chinny, that's pretty obvious at this point, he can get to im, and possibly stop him late here.
Well yeah, I suppose a donkey IS a beast, so technically you are right about Quigg. Bizarrely he has actually deteriorated and regressed since going to Wildcard Gym - strange but true Both are flawed, Quigg more so IMO.
Valdez by stoppage in the later rounds, quigg has disappointed since the frampton fight which he sowed promise in
Valdez will go for a knock out and probably get it. Quigg style is he comes forward apply pressure but he takes a lot of punishment as a result unless he tightens up his defense apply intelligent pressure he could get a few licks in. But Valdez is a mover he is not going to make it easy for Quigg when he gets in range.Valdez will unload first to the body and head. I see TKO for Valdez.
I didn't say he improved skill wise did I? But he has been more relentless and violent, and I think that might play to his favor here, Valdez has defensive holes, and is there to be hit, and seemingly loves to be drawn into wars, which could be his downfall here. And I say that as a guy that's never liked Quigg and was a huge Valdez fan.
Im looking forward to this one , it should be an action packed see-saw battle . Ill be rooting for Quigg but think Valdez will take it.
I'm fancying Quigg here. This is his time now. This fight will be make or break for him. He's got the experience here and this is going to be the best Scott Quigg on the night. I think he beats him on points 8-4. What a fight this is going to be though. It doesn't get the hype it deserves. Both guys will be going at it trying to break each other down with quick hard shots to the body. Valdez is such a fast puncher, so I assume that Quigg will play it a bit more safe than Valdez will, but Quigg will still engage Valdez when he needs to. Valdez is definitely there to be caught on the counter, he just throws fast shots, maybe without reasoning, which leaves him open.
