Former WBA SBW belt holder Scott Quigg has claimed that he wants to return to action against Cuban slickster Rigondeaux and that he feels he beat Carl Frampton in their unification fight earlier in the year. Personally, I think he gets embarrassed by Rigo and is seriously deluded in thinking he won his last fight but I'm keen to hear what the guys and gals of ESB make of his latest comments. Quigg has looked around and the landscape is fairly bleak. The top featherweights would murder him and there is no one really at 122 that makes any money. So .....he is angling for a rematch.....he has nothing to lose really.....no harm In Trying.
quigg must be suffering serious brain damage, probably from eating millions of jabs in sparring due to lack of head movement.
Not a lot out ther for quigg ,frampton in no rush for rematch and if faces rigo he will get credit if even makes it Gd fight rigo has been put down he might get lucky. Personal see him losin wide points but would like least see someone decent face rigo he is gettin on aswell
i see quigg beating rigo btw, people dont realise rigo is finished and if quigg can implement that high guard hig pressure style and fights from the opening bell and doesnt listen to joe he beats him rigo is almost 36, a 122 pound fighter and has fought twice in 2 years. he isnt the mythical beast people make him out to be anymore, and when fights fall off at the lower weight they do it suddenly ,he is finished
I think you've been eating some of those jabs you were talking about. The closest Quigg would get to Rigo would be when the ref makes them touch gloves. Streets ahead of anyone else in that division.
i think people are really starting to over estimate rigo and where he stands right now, lower division fighters dont age well. when has he last looked impressive? Drian Francisco? he looked like complete **** against a journeyman amagasa? again he looked vulnerable against a lower level opponent and was down twice, josh warrington did a bbetter job on him even Kokietgym? headbutted a sucker punched a journeyman agbeko? shut out the semi reitred gun shy fighter, big deal his last impressive performance was donaire. he is a soon to be 36 year old small super bantemweight who is very inactive, this isnt a good combo. you can say im daft but rigo is going to fall off very very soon becuase bantemweights dont age well ,especially ones that rely on reflexes and speed
I also think that Rigo's best days are behind him, but he would still hand Quiggs ass to him on a plate. I genuinely felt that Quigg had a chance of beating Frampton but, he had to throw punches if ever that was going to happen which he didn't in the first 6 rounds of their fight. Not close enough to warrant a rematch either. I actually think he would benefit from a change in trainer as it seems like at the moment he's quite happy for Joe Gallagher to continue blowing smoke up his arris.
You have a very good point about Rigo. Who knows if he still has it or not. At his best he outclasses and stops Quigg but now who knows. I would still fancy Rigo if they boxed but it is rare to still have 36 years olds boxing at a high level in the lower divisions, regardless of there talent.
