Agreed. Quigg has always started this way he did against Kiko and people said he was terrified. Brian Hughes always taught fighters that fights can be won on defence and he defended very well he just didn't throw enough early. Unfortunately in boxing a more or less convincing 10-9 round is still a 10-9 round. No matter how convincing. There was no bamboozling though as frampton claimed he would do and broken jaw or not quigg lost the fight, frampton didn't win it. It must be hard to swallow that potentially if you would have thrown more punches regardless of them landing that could have gotten you the decision. He needs to think hard about his game plans in future as he isn't the Ricky Hatton style charge in face first and take needless shots type. If he's going to start slow then he needs to establish his jab early or the early rounds are going to evade him every time and he's going to find himself chasing a stoppage
Are you serious? If so you dont understand boxing at all. Quigg didnt just 'decide' to throw no punches.....he COULDNT ...cos he knew if he left the slightest gap the other guy (what his name again?) would nail him goodo.... But his corner are at fault too for not telling him he COULDNT possibly be winning any rounds by staying in his shell.... all in all a shambolical amateurish outfit - put to shame by Frampton & the McGuigans....
Yet Quigg wasn't the one hurt and hanging on for dear life. The facts are Quigg had a **** gameplan, Frampton cannot improve on that performance as he never hurt Quigg despite breaking his jaw, got to fight at his own pace for the first half of the fight and yet was gulping for air and looking sorry for himself when Quigg finally started fighting. Then we got to see them two mick gob****e the wee fella and his son prancing like they had just won the fight.
Guys, please. The fight was one giant rubbery c0ck of a letdown. All the hype? All the talk? Not backed up by either dwarf. If I never saw another thread on these two it would be too soon. In fact, I can't think of two fighters so grossly over represented on this site in terms of threads versus actual entertainment. Everyone should let this one go and we should all agree just not to mention it ever again. Ever.
Frampton, although technically teh more gifted boxer, was very disappointing. Quigg finished the fight stronger, and could have won if he followed up after rocking him late on. IMO, neither of them deserved to win ****, they were both a massive let down. Draw seems reasonable, but at the same time, a rematch is just robbing the public.
Honestly felt Quigg Lost the fight fair and square. However he is still a good fighter and ironically I think he is more suited to Santa Cruise than Frampton is.
Quigg lost to carl. Both fighters were extremely nervous on the night which caused them to be tentative and standoffish. Carl although nervous was mindful enough to just do enough. then by the time scott got with the programme carl was well up on the scorecards. I for one would like to see this fight again i do think the next time would be a lot better but carl aint hoing to bother with a rematch not in the near future anyway. Theres still plenty left for scott hes got years left yet
No time like the present for Quigg to face Rigo, he has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. A come-back fight against a relatively decent opponent, then Rigo at the end of the year sounds good to me.
I wouldnt count on Quigg doing much when he returns Can anyone remember a fighters whos come back from a broken jaw unaffected? the fighters in recent history i remember r Burns and Ortiz, both majorly affected by it did Abrham fight a number of rounds with a broken jaw?
ah quigg says he wants rigo but will likely be fighting that aml nourished looking kid in your class at primary school who you assumed died years ago i wonder how rigo will cope with rigos lack of head movement?
The mc guigans had plenty to rejoice about. A trainer younger than the fighters had wiped out the ring mag Toty. Not too shabby. Plus Carl won well. Better boxer ....better trainer......ha ha ha
