I can see the thinking behind it but to leave it as late as they did was criminal.

Should have been going from about the fourth at the latest.

I dont get why these fighters fight mostly the same way coming through against soft touches then when they get up to the big ones they start changing it. I understand tactics etc. But to totally change the way you fight in the biggest fight of your life. Fighting for your belt etc is stupid.

They need to exert their own style on the fight. If thats not working then by all means go to the plan b,s.

They gave frampton far too much respect last nite. Concentrated too much on frampton was gonna do as opposed to what his own boxer could do.

Say what you want about hatton but he always came to fight and excerted his own style on the other man. Regardless if he was fighting mayweather or jon thaxton. This we ll fight a certain way up till we meet a challenge then change it up is letting themselves down. We understand framptons a counter puncher. But you cant just nullify it by not punching.

Do not get the late start. Fitness should not be an issue for small men like this. They should be capable of going toe to toe from start to finish.

Fact is frampton moved out of range fast and quigg couldn't cover the ground and was off balance. You could see him a few times just lunging in and covering up. That shows he could cover tb distance effectively

Excellent point. I appreciated Scott being cautious on the night but can see now it was well over the top.

My old trainer was brilliant , he trained lads till he was well into his 70's , did he have any world champs , NO , European , or Commonwealth champs NO , did he have a big name NO .

But what he did have was a way of , getting his lads to win fights they shoul'nt of won , His lads were notoriuos giant beaters over the years , and He would start you off with basic footwork , when you went in to his gym has a kid , , then basic jabs and straight rights ,,, he would show you basic parry, stop , slip , and what he called the master of all manouveres step back out of range , and step back in straight away ,,, once you had spent months practicing , he would work with you , then let you have your first spar with him or someone better , , he would procced to either let you have one on the nose , or someone else let you have one on the nose .. Always the nose , he said it was the biggest shock for a beginner ... Anyway has soon has you took that first punch on the nose , he would stop the spar , take you away and say thats all for tonight ,, now go sit down and THINK , ,,,, THINK about why you took that punch and what you could do to avoid it ,,, He would drum it in to EVERYONE that boxing is like chess , its like fencing , its all about thinking and outsmarting ,, He would teach you that once the bell went ,you had limited time to work your opponent out and do something about it .

He used to drum it into you that you will meet people who are better , and more skilled , but they are never unbeatable , and that when you meet a guy like this , you have to put him off his game , his excact words to Quigg would of been , excatly what he said to me Quigg has to do prior to the fight , and when he rang me the next day , he said i did'nt watch it , it was to late for me , but did Quigg do what i said he should do ,, My answer was NO he tried to box him .. He said silly boy , should be able to think for himself , he needs a new trainer who will teach him to think .

Want to know whatr he said before the fight ,, He said , Frampton is too smart , too clever on his feet , and hits to hard if you give him room , Quigg has to attack sit on his chest , drag him into a brawl , tire him out , and take him out later in the rnds , , Put his ***** on the line or lose. ...

Its easy for us to sit , AFTER the fight and pick holes in what happenned , but old Ray , he's 90 odd now , still has smart has an 75 year old , ha ha he had it pegged well before the fight , he said Qigg is good, strong , tough , but he's not a thinker he assumes his trainer is smarter , I said to him what do you think about Gallagher , he said could, but will never be a great coach , he's to dictorial , and does'nt allow his lads to think . Old ray said problem is with Joe , he wants the limelight and the glory more than his fighters do ,

Very interesting old guy is Ray , and just ONE OF THE HUNDREDS ,, NO THOUSANDS of good honest trainers who never had that one speciel lad walk in

2 points, firstly seemed to be a few on here saying lets have rematch, please no.
They they won't fight again without ppv and theres no way that fight should be a ppv again after that bore on Saturday night.

Second, are we sure that that was Gallagher's tactics rather than Quigg just freezing on his biggest night?
I got worried for him when he started his ring walk by grinning mancically.

The worrying thing is that Quigg thought he was actually in the fight after round 7. How Quigg and an experienced trainer like Gallagher can get it so completely wrong, is mind boggling. Go out there for 6 rounds, land no punches but try not to get hit? Quigg should have stepped on the gas at round 3, at the latest.

Seeing as these were the tactics used for quigg v salinas and Liam smith v Thompson then no I doubt quigg froze, no doubt these will be used for smith v pedraza and smith v jack

Really can't believe what I am reading, Quigg was the wary fighter who respected Carls power too much, it easy to say if he started the first 6 rounds like he did the last he could of Won, but in theory we all know that is pish.

He landed big shots clean in the later rounds on a weight drained tired Frampton and didn't come close to stopping him
