I did comment earlier on his lack of infighting ability and seeming confusion at how to prevent clinches...so I agree on those... His work from the outside was nice, though. Did McEwan's face chew itself up and spit itself out? I mean, yes there's room for constructive criticism with KC's performance but you have to also give credit for what he did right.
Quillin already turned down that fight and declared he's a middleweight now. I guess he could still try to pretend that Bute's ducking him though; he's certainly said similar things about Martinez even though he also turned that fight down.
and if he did turn down Sergio it was the correct move in a practical and business sense. Quillin, talented as he is, has been a relatively unknown commodity plagued by injuries and other issues. This year has been a turning point in his career and he's taken full advantage of his step up fights against Brinkley and McEwan...not great fighters but they were step ups. He's suddenly a much more marketable fighter, can command bigger $, and is more ready from an in ring standpoint as well.
Wow, poor Butey can't buy a fight partner at SMW, and no way could he move up to LHW and fight Pascal, Cloud, or Dawson. Plus, the only people willing to fight him are old journeymen. Since this is the case, I quess Bute may as well retire since none of the S6 winners (Froch/Ward) want to fight him either, and Dirrell, AA, Kessler, Stieglitz, Ostsuizen, Pavlik will not fight him either. I guess his best bet is to rematch that nobody Andrade that beat him before. poor Butey boy. :-(
That's fine but I find it extremely annoying and hypocritical for a guy to turn down a fight and then immediately pretend that the offerer has somehow been ducking him. People **** on Haye constantly for similar things, only it's even worse with Quillin because it wasn't even a matter of the money not being right or the fairness of the contract being in dispute.
 I'm glad you were able to read my mere pointing out that Quillin turned a Bute fight down as if it was somehow an apology for all of Bute's past and future opponents..
No problem. It shows a sad consistent pattern that doesn't seem to exist for the other SMWs. Seems no one, and I mean no one, wants that IBF belt. :yep
Quillin has his limits but unfortunately he's among the best the middleweight division can offer right now. Absolutely **** stoppage by the way. That was ****ing attrocious.
to The_Troller : what part about Quillin calling out Martinez don't you undestand? "Sergio Martinez, for me, hasn't had a career where people can say he is as great as people say he is, number 2 pound-for-pound, because of a stoppage against Paul Williams and a fight with Kelly Pavlik...he's athletic, he got a little power, I have to say. He's able to do that, but we haven't seen him carry that power up to 160 pounds where I'm a full-fledged middleweight...he's my target. Anything else, I have to honestly say, I'm not interested. He's number 2 pound-for-pound. I want him,"
Quillan was a huge disappointment. If that's the best middleweight challenger then God help us.Know McEwan wasn't offering a great deal but he got badly ripped off there.
I wasn't impressed with him at all and he definitely isn't really heavy handed. He has some power but nothing special. Well we're fortunate then because there are at least 8 guys that are better challenges, too bad Martinez won't fight any of them though.
Quillen is a young fighter. What did the guy have, like 7 amateur fights. The guys still learning, and his learning curve has be quite high. I personally don't think he's ready for a title shot yet. He still has things to work on. It 1-2 years time, if his trainers actually work on making him a better fighter, he's championship material.
I "trolled" all over your Mamma's up raised mug. She loved it and lapped it up. Good for Quillin, in acting like a fighter. Who has Bute called out? :rofl
Why would Bute want to fight a MW? Do you people watch boxing for real or do you just post stupid ****?
