Much like the Quincy Taylor- William Joppy thread, this one is a tough fight to call. Although, strangely inactive, Quincy Taylor was a well schooled southpaw with excellent power. He knocked out a number of fighters that are likely just as good as Jermain such as Otis Grant and Rodney Toney. He also stopped (an admittedly older) Hall of Famer, Julian Jackson,(who, was clearly better than Jermain Taylor). He had a close decision loss to another Hall of Famer, Terry Norris (who was in his prime when they faced off). I was ringside when Quincy Taylor lost to Keith Holmes. Although, arguably a bit of a lucky punch, the knockout was spectacular. Both men were throwing hooks at the same time. Fortunately for Keith Holmes, his hook landed first, and Quincy absorbed the combined effect of both surges of momentum. Had those two fought ten more times, I would be surprised if Holmes landed a punch like that again. It literally came out of nowhere in the midst of a close fight. Due to Quincy's inactivity, I would not want to bet any money on his chances against Jermain Taylor. Especially when Taylor inexplicably had so much media hype behind him (resulting in a number of victories that could have gone against him.) But, on his best night, Quincy certainly has the power to stop Taylor. Truly intriguing matchup. 50/50 or 60/40 for Jermain.
