You don't fluke a win over 12 rounds, that is a ridiculous assertion. Quintana was simply the better man on the night. KO1 rematch was more of a fluke, in that Williams happened to catch him early, but Williams is improving in every fight and is undoubtedly the better man out of the two.

Just because Williams is improving consistently does not mean the first fight was a fluke. Williams fans act like because it wasn't a good performance from Paul it doesn't count on his resume. Its ****ing pathetic.

He caught him early and often. At the end of the day, a loss is a loss. It's never going to go away, but at the same time people never want to let it go. Quintana got dealt with in the rematch and Williams has gone on with his career. Unfortunately for Paul, it's going to be one of those fights that follows him for the rest of his career, ala Castillo with Mayweather. Many of his future opponents will all of a sudden become Quintana clones. Quintana could never repeat that performance if his life depended on it. There was good reason that Williams was still a big favorite in the rematch.

It was not a fluke...Quintana used great lateral movement and timing to keep Williams off balance and counter him when he was moving backward all night. It was a great gameplan and beautifully done. But, that said, if anyone thinks that this current version of Paul Williams is anything like the version Carlos beat that night, they are either blind or havent been paying attention. In all my years watching boxing, I cant remember a fighter who improved to that degree, in THAT short amount of time since his loss.

He has gone from attrocious defensively, to pretty damn good. His footwork went from sloppy to disciplined. His movement went from predictable to great (lateral and head movement). His guard is no longer open and low, its high and tight. All of this and he still throws 1000+...but now from better angles with his better footwork.

The best thing that happened to him was that loss...which ironically was the worst thing that could have happened for his opponents.

Damn, I was just thinking about this today! I don't know. All I know is in their first fight Quintana just brought it, showed no fear, and Paul Williams acted like he didn't know what to do. Paul figured it out in the 2nd fight for sure!
