Quintana's win over Williams shows that Cotto is in another league as a fighter. Rightfully, Max Kellerman spoke about this at the end of last nights fight.

But to be fair, and I don't hear people saying it, it also says something about Floyd. Quintana beat Williams, who beat Margo, who beat Cintron-- all challengers to Floyd's 147lb title.

What Im getting at is that it is extreemly hard at the hardest ranks of pro boxing to walk into the ring as many times as Mayweather and walk out unbeaten. So many things can happen in the course of a fight. Mayweather has overcome a lot: stylistic problems (Castillo and Corrales), speed (Judah), in fight distractions (again, Judah), size (Oscar and Corrales), injuries (Hernandez), etc, etc, etc.

Not my favorite fighter, but Im just saying.

Very well put. This is what I like about Mayweather. He has the ability to just "ovecome". Even in his fight with Hatton, it was rough going for the first half, but you could see inch by inch Floyd just took charge... and I think in Round 8 it was a ruthless beating - then the knockout in Round 10. He just perseveres in tough conditions. Very mentally strong. Up there with the best of all-time for his mind.

You are right in a sense that his loss shows that Mayweather is without a doubt, on top of the welterweight division.

The reason it gets so much hype is because all of these guys:

    WILLIAMS
    QUINTANA
    MOSLEY
    MARGORITO
    CINTRON
    JUDAH
    BERTO
    COTTO

Are all legitimate contenders for the belt, which gives us a division like it used to be in the 40's-60's. A division stocked full of contenders, with one champ.

Floyd mayweather is the champ, and what no one is saying is that, all these guys may not be as good as him, but they could still provide interestesing matchups that could prove for some interesting competition in the WW division.

yeah, and let's not forget he fought castillo with a dislocated shoulder. his flashy persona sometimes leads people to think he lacks heart, but this is simply not the case

Mayweather might eventually lose, but remember, he's well past his best weight.

All Max Kellerman showed as his love affair with Miguel Cotto. While Cotto is a great up and coming fighter, and a great person, he still has to beat Mayweather to prove he's the division's best. Putting the differences of fans or reasons why the fight will/won't happen, it's obvious that Paul Williams isn't as great a fighter as many thought. For one, he beat Margo in a tough, close fight, and suddenly sites around the globe were billing him the next Thomas Hearns.

For what? Beating Margo -- a guy most thought was tough, but not great in the first place? Williams will be a player in the division -- one loss won't end his career, however, people need to step back from the hype machine that built this guy up. All we heard about was how he was 6 feet 2 inches and how he would anniallate Cotto and destroy Mayweather.

Well, we saw what a 5 foot nothing guy did against him, and how he faired against Cotto. Is there any question how he'd do against PBF?

I don't think so. Personally I hope that Williams rebounds strong, but for now lets end this talk of him being the "Most avoided fighter in the division."

Kellerman never said or suggested that Cotto is the division's best. Mayweather is the best, and Kellerman pointed out - rightfully so, that Cotto is a level above all the others aside from Mayweather.

I totaly agree, and PBF is making a big mistake in my book by not just fighting and beating them. Its his division, I would like to see him lay down the challengers one by one. Or get beat, whatever, its better than what he is doing now IMO.

Williams is a bunch of hype. I though Margarito beat him and would knock him out in a rematch, but Williams refused to give Margarito a rematch.

Quintana beat Williams, exposed him and someone will knock Williams out in the future. The fight was not even close. What fight was Lederman watching?! Commentators were so damned biased for Williams, but Lederman was insane and blind!

I agree PBF needs to fight a prime WW like Cotto not an old DLH or LWW Hatton

I dont agree with Floyd's choices as of now and I think they are hurting his legacy. But he has fought better competition than any of the guys in his division over the span of a career and has not been beaten. He deserves a lot of credit for never having too bad of a day at the office.
