Catchweights will ruin boxing. It isn't about the fighters it is about the sport.

The only time I saw these catchweights getting abused is when FMJ pulled an "FMJ" against Marquez.

Man that was such a ***** move.

At least Pac's catch weight opponents REALLY can make the weight that he stipulates and he himself do not balloon up to to upwards of 10lb advatages or so.

Catchweight fights allow elite fighters from different divisions, of different sizes to face off on an even playing field. There will always be demand for elite fighters in different divisions to fight each other, and catchweights will always exist.

Even the featherweights will grab a chance to fight pac for the money. Meet at a catchweight. Seriously, its ok, a gentleman's agreement that needs to be respected.

If catchweights are to be a regular thing, you may as well render weight-classes obsolete. And you said it yourself, 154 is the weight limit, not 150 or whatever.

Fights for belts should be within the limit for the weight concerned, i.e. Welter @ 141-147

Catchweights shouldn't really happen for title bouts - however for anything else I'm not sure I care, unless a fighter is abusing the catchweights/loopholes

catchweights usually favor the more elite or popular fighter. If for a title, how can catchweights not hurt boxing? one guy is being weakened and not fighting at his best.. It is not about the fighters and giving Manny of Floyd any belt they want. My favorite fighter Hearns won all his titles with he and his opponent fighting at the weight the title was for.
