    http://www.britishboxing.net/news_3037-Cuban-rebel-set-for-Irish-Career.html

I had to check the date wasn't April 1st for a minute because this really is strange and seems to have come out of nowhere .

What's especially odd is that it's not even Ireland's main promoter(Brian Peters) who has taken him on board .

So can anyone tell me about Mike Perez/Ismaikel PÉREZ PÉREZ , what was his amatuer career like and does he have a chance at achieving much in the pro game ?

He was favorite to win gold at this years Olympics. The connection with Cork promoter Gary Haye comes about through Perez's friendship with Nicholas Cruz Hernandez[ the legendary cuban coach who trained previous Irish Olympic teams], who is also a friend of Hayes. Hernandez will train Perez, and he will be fighting out of Cork. A promtion in Cork is expected shortly.
