Question; If the contract hasn't been signed how come they are doing press conf? If Gamboa has been reluctant to fight under their conditions, why selling tickets?
Why would it be unprofessional of Gamboa to not show up for a press conference for a fight you haven't actually agreed to? And there's talk among Cuban journalists that Top Rank or Oner wanted that extended to 5 as a condition of this fight and that this stipulation was one of the major reasons for Gamboa's actions.
Apparently it is a common practice that fights are announced before the contracts are actually signed. I never really understood this, but, you hear about it all the time. Boxing is shady enough as it is. Why you wouldn't want to have contracts signed and people legally locked in before announcing the fights and promotions started is beyond me. And I know that the current fad is to blame Arum for everything, but, I don't really see how Top Rank has been screwing over Gamboa. He has had about half a dozen HBO dates which is pretty good for a guy who can't sell tickets or draw flies to his fights. And from all accounts, Gamboa's problem is with Oner/Arenabox and not Top Rank.
Floyd is always accusing promoters of stealing money.Whilst it happens. All i'm saying is when is this mofo gonna get called out on this and prove it in court.
Only if you believe he did not give any verbal agreement, which is very unlikely considering they have sold tickets, scheduled press conferences, etc.
True but he lost to P.Will, Mosley, Pacquaio & split with Cotto. He is a tough SOB, gotta give him that, but he is not that great of a fighter. Just has great heart.
Both are pretty close to being known as black nations. Just look at the boxers, when's the last time you saw a non black Cuban boxer?
Angelo Santana, and almost every boxer in Cuba is black now the chess players, Polo, swiming, and some baseball players are white...
