this guy just started watching boxing he does not know what a good boxer is, unfortunately he is also blind! LOL
Say what you will, I honestly have yet to see wnything from Calzaghe that sets him aside. He has no special talents, aside from maybe stamina and energy. From a technical level I wouldhave to say he's average.
Saying that there are a dozen is a little suspect. He didn't even say 1 thousand, he went the extra mile and said thousandS :rofl
i would say 1 million are better i mean i know kids who never put gloves on that are better..i mean come on...
His Chin is above average. His Speed is above average. His punch output is above average. Ability to fight on the inside and outside is above average. just to name a few He has also beaten the best that his division has to offer time and again! So his Heart is above average. As a side note Floyd Mayweather himself has said that he is one of the best so straight fromthe horses mouth.
His chin is debatable really. He is super fast and has a high punch-output for sure. But his "abilty to fight inside and outside" I can't agree with. His whole style, his whole gameplan is jump in, throw 15-20 punches, generally using the inside of his gloves, and jump out. That, as far as I'm concered, could be achived by any mediocre fighter. That being said, there are so many more aspects to the sport that you didn't even mention, most of wich I would rate him average. His abilty to puch using the effective, scoring portion of his glove is a big one.
If this was amature boxing this would be omportant but it is not. Try telling Jeff Lacy that he doesn not punch properly. See what he says!
I read KonPH's statement on one of the other threads, and frankly I think its being taken a tad out of context here. As silly as it may have read on the surface, I believe he was basically saying that Calzahge has been chosing hand picked opponents and beating them on work rate or punch output, rather than fighting the absolute elite and beating them on mere talent or athleticism... If take this for face value, then yes there are many fighters who have built padded records using this method. While I do not agree with this claim, and feel that Joe is definately an elite fighter, this poster's comment was intentionally cropped by someone who wishes to embarass him.
Chin ? Ok lets debate his chin ,in his pro career he has been dropped three times and got up three times and gone onto win so how is his chin debatable ? the fella has an amazing ability to adapt to his opponents best weapons so his adapability is way above average , his punch output is way above average for his weight class ,power punches ? yes his hands have let him down throughout his career but its not unusual for him to break a hand early in a fight then continue for the rest of it using said broken hand so his heart should be marked as above average , ever tried punching with a broken hand mate ? i have and its a ******* as adreneline will only mask the pain to a certain extent, so to say thousands of fighters are on a par with him is mental or your just another windup poster who trolls these boards .
That is exactly what I was saying. Thank you for at least understanding the statement before disagreeing. So because this is Professional boxing we should turn a blind eye to a fighter's short commings? The fact is his punches are less effective than a lot of fighters out there, because he uses the inside portion of his glove. Not to mention they are easy to throw, hence the high volume, hence Jeff Lacy's face. A 13-year-old girl could slap Lacy in the face 1000 times and we'd see the same outcome.
