Just goes to show how overrated Wilder considering how poor his record is and how many top boxers he's actively ducked to fight lesser opposition.

Clarification: Fury 1 draw and Fury 3 loss = more compelling/admirable performances than most of his wins against modest opposition.

He quite clearly has very good explosiveness, decent timing... he's big at 6'6" with a long style, hes vicious, and he's tough as hell.

    Not just power and chin.

Pretty sure Haye has also said Wilder is the hardest puncher he's ever felt. Which has more weight as usually a fighter wants to say someone they've fought and went the distance with was the hardest puncher.

That he had nothing to gain but still says Wilder... and given who he's been in the ring with... is impressive.

He has never even proven himself to have a chin. He'll be getting ko'd a lot now that he won't be nearly as protected in whom he fights.

Why so angry? You stated you didn't understand why he got hate, I explained. This is how a boxing forum works.

I never stated my thoughts on Wilder personally yet you respond with venom. Shame. Don't allow yourself to be addicted to anger.

No Wilder is not the only athlete I watch and yes if a man says he is a role model for children as Wilder said he is (remember he started boxing to provide for his daughter with a spinal issue) then I will hold them to their own words. I didn't set the bar high for Deontay, he himself did.

My problem with Wilder, other than his career has been liquid hot garbage, is the talk of a wanting a dead body on his record. That's not boxing, that's not even ufc. It's an insult to those who have died in the ring. At best it is stupidity and at worse a serious psychological issue.

    Buy hey, you do you.

The same post could be made about Tyson however this thread and the question asked was about Wilder, not Tyson. The attempt at redirection aside, yes Tyson was a man with demons just like Wilder however...

I am not in the habit of listing everything wrong every single person in boxing has done when the thread is about a single particular boxer.

Idk how you could get any anger from that post? You don’t get out a lot huh?

Shame on you for believing Wilder when he talks about a body on his record, it’s all for show and snowflakes like you believe it, which in the end is good.

Is Wilder a saint? No he’s not, he’s a price fighter after all but I don’t see any issues with him being a role model, after all he took himself out of a shitty situation, got a medal at the Olympics and won a world title, that itself is something to look up to.

Role models don't say they want to kill a human being. Wilder knows kids watch boxing. Wilder knows his own children watch and listen to him. We have nothing left to discuss if you don't understand this. Have a good one.

I think George Foreman is a good role model in a lot of ways. He has openly stated that earlier in his career he wanted to kill a man in the ring because it would make him more famous.

No sport is more full of testosterone-fueled smack talk than boxing.

As for Wilder, I don’t remember him ever saying he’s a role model for children. Just because you choose a profession to take care of your own special needs child doesn’t mean you’re saying you want to be a role model for children — you’re saying ‘I have a responsibility here and I’m going to do what I can to live up to it.’

I don’t see how the two equate, but you’re free of course to like or not like any boxer or anyone else you choose.

The reason Wilder has been successful is because the HW division has slipped the most over the years. He would not have been a contender in the better eras, when guys knew how to fight and were capable of adjusting strategy on the fly.

What more can you ask for??? To fight TOP competition would have been good about 6-7 years ago.
