During WW2, during the bouts at St Nicks Arena, Harry Balogh the famous boxing announcer said while pretty young women were soliciting the crowd for funds for War Bonds for our war effort, " Ladies and gentleman, pretty young girls are walking around the audience with their pretty young boxes, please give til it hurts "....The crowd roared in laughter at this and next day
his faux pas was in all the newspapers...

Not directly from a fight but my favourite Robinson Quote "You always say 'I'll quit when I start to slide', and then one morning you wake up and realize you've done slid"

Here's the Cobb quote that upset Snipes, as I remember it -

Cobb - "I'm proud to be sitting here with some of the baddest (n-word)'s on the planet."

Snipes - "I'm not going to sit here and be called a (n-word)!"

Cobb - "I wasn't talking about you, Snipes. I was talking about the bad ones."

Cobb was obviously a fun-loving, quick-witted guy who held genuine respect for the other gentlemen in the room. But I've got to give kudos to Snipes for speaking up.

A friend of mine went on a fishing trip with Cobb years back. I can only remember laughing my ass off at the stories he told about Tex. So jealous.
