To be fair I agree with Jack. Dawson IS chinny and Pascal has the style to knock him out and I think that is a distinct possibility come August 14th. I'm rtooting for Pascal, he is one of my favoruite current active fighters. If Pascal does lose it will be by decision and it wont even be wide. maybe 7-5 Dawson. Pascal will not get a shown up as people are saying here. It will be a very competitive fight.
Pascal has a style which will make it next to impossible for him to find his fists connecting with any scoring blows against Dawson.
Pascal is a few levels below Dawson. I like the way he fights though, and I think he can bring the best out of Dawson and it could be a pretty good fight.
Pascal will always have 2 things that Dawson doesn't have! Fans and hearth. Even if Jean lose this fight he will still be an huge attraction in Montréal and a defeat to Dawson who his in the top 10 p4p wouldn't be a disaster . Pascal is young and will get another title for sure!
Dawson is good and I think it's absurd Pascal's team want this fight now. The risk is ring rust and I see no reason to suggest why it wouldn't play a factor. It's a dangerous choice for that reason but I think a fully fit Pascal stops Dawson. Dawson is overrated, anyway. It was only a couple if fights ago that people were calling him a hypejob and I don't see much improvement since then. Far too lazy in the ring to achieve what he could. He's good but will inevitably lose to someone he should beat. That said, as a boxer, he isn't too special, anyway. He has some big flaws apart from his mental game.
Pascal team said that the were worried that an opportunity like this wouldn't happen again so they couldn't refuse! Anyway it must be hard to keep Pascal out of the ring , this guy want to fight till exhaution!
Pascal is a gutsy fighter which will make Dawson fight back hard. That is bad news for Pascal as Dawson is in a differant league than Pascal.
Pascal at times was outboxed by Froch, that cont be a good sign for this fight. I think that Dawson will dominate him in the 119-108 range.
all Pascal needs to do is be competitive and he will get some credit. Dawson is a top10 p4p fighter and I don't think Pascal is on anyones top30 p4p list. I also thought this was poor matchmaking especially with Pascal coming straight off a shoulder surgery and going up against a guy who I think would beat him even if he was at 100% But think of it like this: If you're a boxer and you're trying to be the best that you can be and you're a WBC world champion, and you get a chance to test yourself against one of the best p4p fighters in the world, do you take the risk or do you ***** out? If there's one thing about Montreal fighters its that compared to other places, they're not afraid to put their record on the line.
