Snagged this off the BR forums, who in turn swiped it from elsewhere. He was smoking, said Andrade. He was smoking me. And it wasnt his hands or his power, it was his footwork. I saw him go one direction, turn, and then go in another direction where I totally couldnt adjust. If he would have done that with (Joe) Calzaghe, it would have been a totally different game. One step behind for the entire fight, Andrade showed heart and determination, but he couldnt do anything with Kessler, who won a shutout decision. For Andrade, it was a night that still doesnt make any sense to him. When I went to that fight, I was so emotional, he recalls. Leading up to the fight, going into the fight, being in the ring, I couldnt believe it, it was incredible. I remember one of the rounds I hit Kessler with a right hand and I hit him on top of the ear, and honestly, he made a noise like ow or ahhh in front of me, and I felt like saying Im sorry. (Laughs) I didnt know what was wrong with me; I dont feel that when I fight, I just want to get it over with. That fight was so weird, but its behind me, I dont care I was overdue for a loss anyway. (Laughs) Im just happy that it was with Kessler because hes a very good fighter. A year later, what would he do differently against Kessler? I dont know, he admits. At least Id like to win one round. That would be my first goal because man, Kessler was so fast that day.
People on ESB have badmouthed Kessler's footwork, called it "average", or worse - one of his weakest areas. People on ESB do not boast 26-1 professional records and top 20 ranking in the super middleweight division.
And yeah Librado seems cool as hell. "I was overdue for a loss..." That's freaking tits that a boxer actually said that.
Andrade is one of the most likable guys in boxing. The "time collector" quote after the Kessler fight was great. BTW, did anybody watch the Telefetura card last week? There was a lighter weight fighter on the undercard whose face looked EXACTLY like Andrade's. I wish I could remember his name so I could post a picture.
Thats very honest from Andrade. :good As pointed out, its really easy to root for him, I hope he can get a good streak of wins and get another shot at a title. From burger flipper at Jack in the Box to Super Middleweight contender.
Great guy! If he beats Stieglitz and Bute, he would be one of the most popular Champs out there.:happy
Its good to see guys that are humble and tell the truth instead of talking themselves up all the time. He should be respected for it.
Great guy, great heart. Kessler does seem to stumble on his feet when someone is throwing into his guard(up close), he kinda stumbles backwards a bit.
