Some dude on the r\boxing subreddit made a post about Henry Armstrong, and how his defense in the clip provided was superb. Of course, it took milliseconds for the casuals to show up and say ******ed nonsense in the comment section. Here's the post: This content is protected
Sounds like a site that our esteemed ex member, MoneyTheMan, would be drawn to like a bee to honey. He drew the colour line - all fighters filmed in BW were immediately stamped as not “modern” and therefore “low tech”.
Looks like someone Mayweather would take apart. He gets tagged with like five right hands in the first twenty seconds.
That's true Pug and a couple more on here too. Any fighter before they were actually born are seen as inferior and easily defeated by any boxer, filmed in black and white..
With today’s weigh ins, Armstrong would probably be weighing in at around flyweight so a fight with Mayweather wouldn’t even be a realistic proposition.
True Floyd is a much better than Henry's opponent here (who is it?) but it looks he has difficulty hitting Armstrong cleanly? So not sure how much they are having an affect, not sure how many times Henry was stopped but if he can take a solid punch then it matters less if he gets clipped occasionally if that is his style? Also would need to see the full fight to see how it develops. Having said that Armstrong would have to hit Floyd cleanly and that would be a challenge, this guys fighting is pretty straight up and open to Henry's swings.
The video doesn’t flatter Armstrong’s defense or skill imo. If anything, it shows that he had a great engine which probably accounted for a lot of his success.
Oh Floyd would counter him quite often, but he couldn't hurt Hammerin Hank with a blackjack. Rounds 13, 14, and the last round would not be kind to Mayweather. Fact is while Floyd was a great fighter, he ain't in Armstrong's league which is top 5 all time pound for pound
You’re just guessing since Floyd was fighting 12 rounders with different gloves, scoring, and refs. Mayweather looks better on film and was more dominant against the guys he fought.
