Such a loss... The guy was pure class. Even in his twilight years he still managed to make magic. I will never forget his cool as ice attitude while coaching Foreman against Moorer: "You are behind baby, you gotta put him (Moorer) down", saying that like he was just asking Foreman to give him the time of the day .... and next thing, Big George just goes and puts Moorer down
Brings a sad smile learning this about Angelo. Knew him first at Stillmans in N.Y., 'n in the early '50s, he trained me at the Fifth St. Gym in Miami Beach for the U of M boxing squad 'n the 5th St. team that barnstormed all over Fla. We were treated like Kronk West at every backwater town. Families lookin' like they stepped out of DELIVERANCE beggin' for autographs. Actually, in an empty dressing room before a fight had an opponent, covered in tats, beg me ta take it easy on him. Tried to take my head off at the opening bell. The esprit de corp was like a Seal team. Not a guy on that amateur team wouldn't have knocked over a building for Angelo. Treated us exactly the same as Willie Pep, Pastrano 'n Cleveland Williams.
