R.I.P. Burt Bienstock

He knew his boxing, lived it by the sounds of things - the hard parts over may he rest in peace.

 

R.I.P. Burt

Very interesting guy to talk and debate with. My condolences to his family and friends.

 

The guy was amazing,such a wealth of information.
Rip Burt, your name won't be forgotten about on here.

 

RIP, Burt. He is with God, and those who went before him now! Say hi to my Grandfather for me! Condolences to family and friends. Another treasure, containing deep boxing knowledge, has left us, and will be missed.

 

New member and dunno who he is,but I pay my respects for him.

I spoke with Burt many times, he was definitely a Gentleman and he had seen a lot of the Greats LIVE...

he was well loved & received for the most part, but like a lot of people was at times surprised & confused by the occasional abuse from some of the Classic's uncouth few. He handled them well, but like the rest of us learned it is better just to present your material and leave them too it.

I spoke with Burt a few times privately on Facebook and on one occasion he gave a breakdown of the Irish Middleweight Pat O'Connor's 18 U.S opponents. He was an enjoyable & decent man from all I could make out and see.

Rest in peace - himself, John Garfield and all the other legends that lived and breathed it and blessed us with their memories.

They jabbed so we could hook, weaved so we can uppercut.

Condolences to his family and all those that knew and cherished him.

He was the man who witnessed the whole Joe Louis career and wrote lots of interesting insights about boxing in 30s and 40s.

Never had the chance to interact with him but had a quick glance at some of posts about Rocky Marciano-Carmin Vingo and the guy was a font of boxing knowledge.

Imagine seeing an unknown Marciano tear through the favourted prospect.

The boxers Mr Bienstock must have seen?

Really hope his last few years were comfortable and Condolences to all his loved ones.

 

I missed out on interacting with him but enjoyed his posts when I read through his thread contributions. I think he got to see Pep and Robinson live in their 40s primes and his dad had seen Greb live, iirc.

 

Rest in pace Burt, if there's a heaven or someplace we go i have no doubt the boxing community is all the richer.

 

I never interacted with Bert, but I've read a lot of his posts.
Always spoke with respect and decency.
Class act.
