Terrible news. The Camden Buzzsaw was an absolute beast of a fighter and a terror at 175. This year has been absolutely sad with the passing of great fighters such as George Foreman, Mike McCallum, Nino Benvenuti, Joey Archer, Greg Haugen, Antonio Avelar, and now Dwight Muhammad Qawi.

    RIP Champ.

Anyone who has boxed for a significant amount of time has brain damage. The only question is if it is observable to the average person.

Jake LaMotta died with dementia, although officially his death was due to pneumonia but he was 95 years old, older than most (boxer or not) live to be. Was his dementia caused by extreme old age or boxing?

If dementia is developed in the 60s or younger, boxing is probably the culprit. If it develops in the 70s, especially mid to late 70s and older, maybe it's boxing, maybe old age.

Best to be a basketball or baseball player. It can be hard on the body but not the head.

I read that football is worse than boxing when it comes to CTE
