RIP George. I saw him in 2009 and 2010 at the boxing hall of fame and he did not look to be in good shape in 2010.
had a feeling something was wrong when his article wasn't in the irish times today.sad news i meet kimball when i was working a summer job at the ryder cup even though he was busy he took time to talk boxing with a bad teenage waiter.good writer and man will be missed
yes it was. There are not enough books written about boxing and eras. I am not sure why. He researched well and his book will always reflect a great era in boxing.
Add me to that list. Four Kings is a great book to open up interest in that era. Starts right at the top (with the "Kings") and mentions a lot of the great fights and fighters in that era. George Kimball did an excellent job trying to keep an even keeled opinion despite his closer workings with the Hagler camp (which also added great texture to understanding the "Destruct and Destroy" philosophy).
In time, you'll see a book with essays about Murderers' Row. It will cover the late 20s through the late 40s through the experiences of four members with others in supporting roles.
