The circumstances are obviously suspicious, and still being actively investigated. We can speculate cartel involvement, but - I can't imagine this had anything to do with his career, as what's the point of fixing a four round contest between guys with 7-9-1 and 8-11 records?

Must've gotten mixed up in something outside the ring and gotten in over his head.
